Yesterday’s article was about a shift.
After years of sitting with Spirit and people, I find myself asking a different question.
Not, Can they hear me?
But, What kind of relationship are we building now?
That’s where mediumship deepens.
The relationship becomes the practice. The conversation continues, and the connection keeps growing.
If you’re looking to receive more signs, this book by Laura Lynne Jackson is wonderful. And to continue your relationship with the other side keep going through the practices from Series One. The Portal Practice is a personal favorite that you can come back to and get something new each time. I walk my friend Carter though her own portal in an upcoming episode of Houseguest, so make sure you’re following along there!
Yesterday’s practice, Seeing Yourself Through Their Eyes, is one way to experience building a relationship with the other side over and over again.
Come back to it whenever your life has changed. After a hard season, or a season of great change. After you’ve become a version of yourself they never met, but already know.
You might be surprised that the relationship has been growing alongside you the entire time.
Connection begins by talking to them, including them and becoming curious about how they see your life now. (Not by asking them to prove they’re there.)
The advice they offer may not sound exactly like it would have when they were physically here.
It will probably feel familiar, but different.
They have a higher perspective from where they are than where they were here. That’s one of the greatest gifts of continuing the relationship.
When you begin listening this way, don’t expect to hear a voice outside of you. You’ll hear it where you’ve heard every message we’ve practiced receiving together.
In your own mind. In your own imagination. In a thought that’s just different enough from your own to make you pause.
In a familiar cadence. A phrase they would’ve used. A sense of humor that feels unmistakably theirs. A perspective you wouldn’t have considered on your own.
Earlier this week, I was in a reading where we talked about signs coming through music.
My guides tend to talk to me through music at night.
I’ll wake up with a melody in my head or find myself humming a song I haven’t thought about in years. It’s different enough for me to notice. Encouraging enough for me to trust.
Over time, you'll begin noticing your own version of that. Because when you're building your relationship with the other side in this way, it's much more about noticing what was already there than asking for proof to come out of nowhere.
If you find yourself constantly asking for signs, try asking a different question.
How can I continue the relationship today? What is already there?
I think you’ll find that’s where the conversation begins.
Thank you for being here and for connecting in.
Sincerely,
I’m on Instagram, and host of Houseguest, the podcast that connects you to the other side.
