July was a month full of unexpected events, milestones, and just busyness in general. It’s crazy that we’re way past the half of 2026, and that we’ll be soon – depending on how you look at “soon” – embarking into the autumn. 🍄 Life At the beginning of the month, we had some friends visit, which is always nice. It was during the Alegria Festival here where…
Yesterday, I published the last planned release of File Browser . It includes a few security fixes and a notice about the wind-down of the project. Alongside it, I announced that this was the last planned release and updated the repository so that it’s ready to be archived on September 1st. For many people this came as a surprise. For those who’ve been following the project from close…
As someone living in a foreign country, it’s always interesting to me to find places where I can buy food from my own country. Over the past few years, I haven’t found that many places in the Netherlands that sell Portuguese food. There’s a shop here and there, a café or restaurant here and there, but none of them are in Eindhoven, or in a place I usually come by. Recently…
As the clock approached half past one on July 20th, an excavator did what it never expected to do: hit an electricity cable. On that instant, hundreds of houses were haunted with the lack of electricity. Minutes passed, still nothing. Messages were flooding on group chats from different buildings. Communities coming together to understand what had just happened. Fear no more. The grid operator was…
A few hours ago, I completed my first edition of the Zwem4daagse , which is a yearly even here in The Netherlands where you swim a certain distance for four days. After swimming 500 meters four days, I am now a proud owner of a cute little medal! Looking back at the past six and a half months, it’s crazy to see how much I’ve achieved in the swimming pool. After years of wanting to…
Today I had my last swimming lesson before the summer break. Since I haven’t given any update on my swimming since the end of April, this felt like the perfect natural moment to do so. It’s been so much fun! On my last update , I shared that I had gotten the National Swimming Diploma A, which is the first of three diplomas to reach the national swimming safety norms. Since then,…
Woah! It’s that time of the month again. June has gone by very fast, full of activity, travel, and a - way too hot for The Netherlands - heatwave. Let’s look back and reflect on everything that has happened this past month! ✍️ Website I’ve made a few updates to the AT Protocol integration of this website. Because I haven’t posted a lot recently, I hadn’t noticed that…
At the end of April, I wrote about stepping back into the driver’s seat. I ended that post with two remarks: that I was going to take a refreshers lesson, and that I wanted to try a manual transmission before the lesson. It’s been a while! It turns out that the idea of a refreshers lesson made me anxious enough to decide trying a manual transmission car before the lesson. That is how…
May was an incredibly packed month, which sort of explains why it took me so long to write this post. Now that I have some time to go through all the events, let’s take a look back together, and go through some of the things that happened in May! ✍️ Website May was packed with real life events, which means I barely had any time to update this website. However, right before writing this post,…
The other day, I visited the Hoge Veluwe with some friends that came visit. We spent most of the times on the classic white bikes, so I ended up not taking many pictures. However, we did stop here and there and I really like how this tree stood out in the middle of the heathland. 💬 Reply via e-mail | 📖 Sign my guestbook
