Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered flags at local and state government sites flown at half-staff in remembrance of the Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando.

The flag-lowering was set for Friday, June 12, 2025, a decade after 49 people were gunned down and 58 wounded inside Pulse.

A reverent action on paper — until you remember that a year ago, Florida state workers painted over the rainbow crosswalk that was part of the Pulse memorial to the slain and shot.

“We will not allow our state roads to be commandeered for political purposes,” DeSantis posted on X on Aug. 21, 2025.
