The notion that we are all afraid to die
is a universal truth that is fundamentally flawed
if enough people think something is true
this is called ‘common census’
a majority belief that outweighs any logical or factual basis
to become universally accepted as fact
in this case, the belief is that death is something to be feared
not that death is something that should be accepted
that it’s something integral to life
that it’s a capstone of existence . . .
the fear is misaligned with the concept of death
which, other than its finality, in relation to the finite life
is merely a notion without evidence
for what most think it is, it is not
for the fear is really based on the perception of loss
on that which we will no longer have
love, perceived dissolvable upon death
of all the things we’ve done, held, pursued, lost . . .
death is the vacuum that pulls us into the unknown ether
along with fear, loss, confusion, pain, and suffering
death is resolution and freedom from the fear of a life not lived
so don’t be afraid that it will be over, be glad that you have lived
that you’ve fulfilled your natural purpose in life, and now in death
that you have been someone and soon you will be at peace
and part of everything, forever.
Along with articles, I often write and share poetry and philosophical posts. I’m a self-confessed Existential-Humanist, so if you enjoy contemplating existence and what makes humans, well, human, we should connect.
