My favorite repair was a toaster brought in by a family with 3 young kids. One of the slots wouldn't stay depressed. As a bread-enjoyer, I knew this failure mode well. I had the 5-year old girl help me take out the screws on the chassis and lift it up. Tada! She found a quarter of an everything bagel, sesame seeds included, smeared onto the circuit board.
