London is for everyone.

Helloooooo!!! I’m back from an amazing work trip to London, where I got to see the season 3 House of the Dragon premiere. It was a total blast. I can’t believe it took me more than 40 years to finally go!

Coming from a city that is aggressively gridded, I was shocked to see that almost every road in London is a squiggle. Despite the fact that it is inherently chaotic, I found navigating the city to be super intuitive. (It probably helped that our hotel was just down the road from Trafalgar Square, which is a VERY useful landmark.)

Before I left, I asked you all for recommendations for things to do and eat and admire, and y’all did NOT disappoint. There is something for everyone in London. I didn’t make it to the book barge, but I loved the stationery store Present & Correct. For food, Dishoom was wonderful. Rose Bakery was a dream. I ate at Honey & Co. Daily twice, and would have happily gone again and again.

If I’d had one more day, I would have made sure to get on the Clipper (now known as Uber boat, unfortch), the commuter boat that travels down the Thames. I would have gone to the Tate, and eaten a Sunday Roast, and gone to St. John. I would have done more clothes shopping. I would have tried to find a rock and roll history tour of London.

But really, here’s the best advice I can offer: Admire as many flowers as you can. Have a cigarette if that’s your thing. Walk through the park whenever possible. Don’t worry about finding shortcuts — go the long way, every time. Have a pint while standing on the sidewalk. These were some of my favorite things about London, but honestly, I think it tracks for any city.
