Well, the heatwave is over for now, and we can expect below-normal temperatures for the next seven days. Mountain water will be cooling, though thunderstorms will be expected. We’re at the beginning of the annual cooldown, so fishing should improve as the month moves on. Additionally, many waters will be stocked before Labor Day. The updated report has a link you will find on the banner at the top of the page that will take you to the CDFW page where you can find out if your favorite water is scheduled to be planted. Best fishing is going to be in tailwaters such as the Little Truckee or others flowing from impounded water. August is a good time of the year to begin fishing terrestrials such as hoppers and ants, and also crawdads. Check out the complete report below. Make sure you read the report on the Upper Sac.
