Good morning! Here is my Friday ramble…with a twist.

Here is a transcript, edited for clarity:

Good morning. As you’re watching this, it’s Friday morning, August 21st. I’m recording on Thursday evening, August 20th. It’s 7 o’clock P.M.

There’s so much stuff to talk about, but I want to take this occasion to highlight an article—pretty much buried, I think, in the press coverage—that I wanted to bring to your attention. It’s about Pete Hegseth, who’s been in the news lately for being terrible at his job and having people under his watch jump off boats, or try to, because he’s so incompetent running the Defense Department, which he’s pleased to call the “War Department.”

It’s not the War Department, it’s the Defense Department. He’s not the War Secretary. He’s the Secretary of Defense. Anyway, there was an article in the New York Times on the 19th of August, by Elisabeth Bumiller, a former Pentagon correspondent—I assume one of the many correspondents that was escorted out of the Pentagon by Hegseth.

So she wrote this piece, and the title is:

That’s the the title and the subtitle. And I’m just gonna read a couple of paragraphs here.

Mrs. Hegseth was for years Mr. Hegseth’s producer at Fox News as he built a broadcast career. Now, seven years into their marriage, she is his most influential adviser and his de facto producer at the Pentagon. She has prepped him for appearances, sat in on his meetings with journalists, interviewed potential members of his staff and brainstormed ideas for the Defense Department videos he — and sometimes she — appears in.

Last year she was in a highly sensitive meeting with her husband and top British defense officials after the United States temporarily stopped sharing military intelligence with Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal first reported. In a previously undisclosed part of that meeting, a Trump administration official told The New York Times, the British indicated that they had officers on the ground in Ukraine and that without the U.S. intelligence, including early warnings of incoming missiles from Russia, the officers’ lives were at risk.

The British spoke in general terms, the official said, because the presence of Mrs. Hegseth made them uneasy. Later they had a smaller meeting, without her, to go into detail.

You’ll recall also that, not that long ago, in the spring of 2025, there was Signalgate, and she was one of the people that were in the Signal group chat, where Pete Hegseth basically revealed troop movements that could have been hacked.

Anyway, I read this article with interest because—you know, it’s not often I get to really toot my own horn. And I hope you’ll indulge me here. But I went back and I thought, “I think we talked about this on the show, on The Five 8. I’m pretty sure I talked about it a little bit. Maybe I had a little rant about it? I can’t remember.”

And I went back and I tried to look. And sure enough, on the show of May 9th, 2025, in the second segment, with LB and I talking, I did in fact address this very topic of Jennifer Hegseth’s relationship with Pete Hegseth.

So if you’ll permit me to go back in the time machine and show you a little clip from back then, back in May of 2025. I will warn you, it’s relatively late in the show. I’m very ranty. I am halfway done with my Manhattan—because I have to get in the Pete Hegseth spirit. I zoomed in on me here, but LB is there also on screen. And I can sense that she’s nervous that I’m gonna say something bad because I’m a little animated, swearing too much—maybe I’m a little too Hegsethy. I don’t know.

I don’t usually like to rant and rave and shout in these morning videos, but under the circumstances I think it’s it’s gonna be okay. So let’s take a look at this clip from May of 2025:

GO: And Hegseth! This is where I’m gonna end—with this. This is my theory. This is pure speculation. You know how his wife is at all the meetings and his wife is on all the Signal chats. You know why that is? Again, this is my speculation (he said, taking a sip of his delicious Manhattan): Pete Hegseth—again, my opinion—is so fucking drunk and incompetent and so stupid and so incapable of doing the job, he’s not violating security by having Jennifer Hegseth there. He needs her there, because she’s actually running the Defense Department, because he doesn’t know what the fuck he’s doing. He can’t even mix his own drink without her help. He is useless.

LB: She’s Cassidy Hutchinson!

GO: Yes. She’s that. But he makes Mark Meadows look like MacArthur. Hegseth is a useless person. I don’t know what he’s good at, but it ain’t this. He cannot do anything. His executive functioning is zilch. He is a fucking loser.

And the idea that this guy is some kind of raging Alpha? Give me a fucking break. You have to have your wife do your job for you, dude! That’s pathetic. It’s just pathetic. Fucking resign in shame, if for no other reason, for that.

Now, I’m happy to be proven wrong. I don’t have any intelligence, this is my speculation. But: I’m right.

Yeah, okay, so I was right. I was right. I was right. I was right. Jennifer Hegseth’s running the Defense Department because Pete Hegseth is too drunk, incompetent, and stupid to do the job.

Now, I’m pleased with myself that I’m right, but it’s also really awful that I’m right because this is…

I don’t even know what to say. I mean, I don’t even know what to say.

Service members are in harm’s way. They’ve died because of this Iran fiasco that he’s the author of. And we have somebody who cannot handle the job without his wife’s help.

I wonder if they’re gonna test her for high T? I don’t know. I don’t know.

Anyway, it it speaks to how incompetent these people are. They’re stupid, they’re evil, but they’re also incompetent—which is good, because they screw up their plans. But it’s not so good when we’re actually trying to fight a war.

We can make jokes about this guy till the cows come home, but the reality is that men and women in this country are putting their lives on their line and are in harm’s way. And for what? For what? For this podiatrist-wrote-the-excuse-to-skip-Vietnam draft dodger to make more money? It’s just disgusting.

So I said at the time I’m gonna say it again, Pete Hegseth should resign in shame and disgrace. He will not, because he’s incapable of that, and he thinks God’s on his side or some crap. If you read the article, there’s a lot of Jesus in there. Because as we all know, Jesus loves drunk rapists. I skipped that part; I don’t know which Gospel that’s in. I’m pretty sure it’s not one of the four that I’m familiar with.

Anyway, I just wanted to share that, because it’s something that we should pay attention to—in all seriousness. Like, how incompetent is this guy? Because he seems pretty incompetent to me. Like, has he done anything at all? Like literally any one thing? The guy can’t even do a deadlift. Like, there’s workout videos of him in the gym; he’s not even doing that right. Pretty bad.

So anyway, we’ll keep an eye on that. And you know, until next time, we shall prevail.
