Trying to capture that feeling of an early summer morning with long shadows and fresh blooms. This view is pretty closely modeled on the front yard of the house I grew up in. It s definitely a rural setting with the neighbour s barn across the road in the background I did rearrange some of the flowers [ ]
Another mini painting this time inspired by the local Anna s hummingbirds visiting my hanging basket of begonias. What a treat to see them hover and sip! I hadn t realized that these flowers had enough nectar for them to be interested perhaps they are just attracted by the colour? (C) 2026 Hilary Farmer

When I buy a bouquet of flowers at the market it is not only because I know I will enjoy them in the house but because they are so enjoyable to paint.
