Kasia Skorynkiewicz is an interdisciplinary artist working with outdated technologies, discarded objects, and overlooked materials. Across photography, alternative photographic processes, video, installation, and sculpture, she explores the relationships between technology, memory, obsolescence, and transformation.

Her cyanotypes often repurpose fragments of photographic and technological equipment, transforming objects such as light bulbs and 35mm camera parts into photographic images. Through process driven experimentation, she examines how familiar objects can take on new meaning when removed from their original function. By using an early photographic process to capture remnants of more recent technologies, her work creates a dialogue between past and present, preservation and disappearance, and the physical objects we leave behind.

Illuminated

Illuminated is an original cyanotype depicting an oversized light bulb, an object commonly associated with ideas, invention, and insight. Within the cyanotype process, light is also the agent that creates the image itself. By removing the light bulb from its practical context, the work shifts the familiar object toward metaphor, exploring how ordinary technological objects acquire meaning beyond their intended function.

Without an Apparatus is an original cyanotype created through the direct exposure of photographic 35mm film camera components onto chemically treated paper. Removed from the camera that once gave them purpose, the individual parts become fragmented forms, hovering between recognizable objects and abstraction.

By isolating remnants of analog photographic technology, the work considers what happens when objects become obsolete. The cyanotype transforms mechanical components into photographic traces, preserving their physical remnants while reflecting on obsolescence, transformation, and technological change.

Starting March 2026, Green Kill invites visual artists to be part of Friday Night at Green Kill, a lively salon-like monthly exhibition program where creativity meets community. Each artist can display one artwork (painting, print, or photograph) up to 30” x 60”. To join, send an image of your piece, a short artist statement, and a participation request to 229greenkill@greenkill.org. If accepted, your work will be featured online and exhibited during first and third Friday events—with up to 15 artists per night.
