Over five years ago we, Nate and Lyra, began a journey together, having personally witnessed community resources failing those who needed them most. As legal systems tore families apart, support systems remained fragmented - leaving trauma in their wake. We were determined to create a system of family and community support which would replace the broken system so many families suffer with to this day.
Asking ourselves and each other this very question, we were driven to create a powerful outreach mechanism to provide tools and support for families and individuals experiencing trauma, social stigma, broken homes, broken families, insincere communities, and an overall failure in non-violent communication. A very daunting task.
Shortly after landing in the Bay Area, we found ourselves at the mercy of COVID-19 pitfalls. With little more than an older RV parked on the side of the road, we went to work doing what we could to stave off the depression, follow our heart songs and develop a framework for a better way of connecting in communities across all walks of life.
The first step on this path was to Identify the disparities present in today’s society. People’s lives are destroyed daily based on false allegations, insinuations, and just because someone has a bone to pick.
And that's not ALL. The public sector is more than willing to step in and look at the parties with impunity while removing their children, dignity and even jobs from those who are less fortunate.
We knew that the circumstances we encountered plague many across the country and elsewhere, and we wanted to see the full expanse of this dilemma. In those dark days of early COVID, while volunteering at a local shelter, the gaps became painfully clear.

Most community outreach we have seen pales to the needs of the many. Resources are doled out as if we live in a Fascist Dictatorship. Even the churches have strict policies about community support. Sure, without an ID, you can get a warm meal, some clothes and maybe a warm shower, but to receive more than these types of basic necessities there are a lot of hoops you need to go through.
When did it become mandatory for you to have proof of identity in order to get help? You may not have a Social Security card anymore. Your birth certificate many have been stolen or burned. What if you get stranded in a whole other state or country for that matter, without these pieces of identity?
People in these situations need a lot more support than the community service sector is prepared to give them. Much of this comes down to lack of training and inadequate policies. We observed how simply providing sustenance without cultivating independence and self-worth leads nowhere.
It was then we envisioned an alternative - networks of communities holding each other with unconditional care and accountability. Not casting others out due to arbitrary rules, but welcoming all who seek shelter, whether with papers or not.
Our goal with these support networks is lifting people through compassion, not enabling cycles of needs. Communities and support networks can be up-trained in various soft skills such as non-violent communication, conflict resolution, emotional/mental wellness - skills allowing each member to become resilience assets themselves over time. Workshops and training seminars can be facilitated and offered to provide information on how to maintain a healthy diet and exercise, budgeting, housekeeping, life-skills, and other skills and support needed to facilitate better social resilience & connectdness.
Nobody enjoys receiving handouts indefinitely; we all wish to contribute. The vision that these circles will cultivate interdependence by matching talents, mentor new skills and connect people according to their passions/strengths resonates with many. Those receiving aid will gain opportunities to pay it forward through skills learned and services rendered.
When fully realized, nobody remains cut off from taking responsibility or feeling purpose. A rising tide lifts all boats - as communities strengthen each individual's abilities, collateral benefits arise like lowered recidivism, increased economic mobility and public mental health.
Our system seeks to establish true sovereignty, where everyone owns their power through helping others.
Equitable change arises from empowering people, not dis-empowering through prolonged dependence. Hand-ups, not just handouts, will be these networks' core approach to cultivating an awakened society. That is what makes a truly Regenerative Revolution last for generations.
We invite you now to imagine what's possible if we apply grassroots solutions. Neighbors interconnected not by geography alone, but by care, accountability and mutual learning. Conflict dissolved nonviolently before legal battles start. Families thrive with spaces to guide their own, and others’, healing.
In order for any society to transform from a broken system to a regenerative paradigm, we believe that it is important to first look at the root of the situation. This is where you, as a concerned individual, play a very important role.
