Free and open to the public, the Bee City Wichita Committee meetings are a great way to learn more about the initiative, get updates on gardens around town, and find like-minded people. The next meeting will be Tuesday, June 23rd from 6:30-7:30PM. Room opens at 6:00PM.

The Bee City Wichita crew have had our favorite plants and those we recommend often in our minds for a long time… but we’re finally writing them down!

Why twelve plants? Well, it was hard to decide on just ten, but we also wanted to make sure we highlighted grasses which provide not only great structure and visual interest to a garden, but act as host plants for several pollinator species’ caterpillars.
Feel like diving into what we’re lovingly calling a Chaos Garden? We also recommend these prolific plants with the caveat that they will need maintenance. These plants provide great blooms, are highly attractive to pollinators, and are often competitive enough to out-grow weeds (and well, their neighboring flowers if given a chance).
