Zig Zag Is Ready for Your Next Date Night

It was fun to see several of you use the Gazette chat to organize a beginners soldering class with another Prospect Heights neighbor, Olivia Barr (shout out to Cat Zhang for leading the charge).

A few people have asked what the rules of the chat are. The answer is: there really aren't any. Just be neighborly and don't be a nuisance.

The neighborhood's next date-night spot is almost here.

Zig Zag Oyster Bar opens Tuesday, July 28 at 406 Prospect Place, taking over the former Bar Meridian space on the border of Crown Heights and Prospect Heights.

“We wanted it to feel like a New York restaurant,” co-owner Nialls Fallon told the Gazette. “We definitely build our places to last and hope they become classics.”

The oyster bar is the latest venture from Fallon and husband-and-wife team Leah Campbell and Nick Perkins, the restaurateurs behind Bed-Stuy favorites Hart’s and The Fly, as well as Lower East Side standouts Cervo's and Eel Bar.

The partners weren’t actively looking to expand when Bar Meridian owner Sage Geyer approached them about taking over the space. But they had already been kicking around the idea of an oyster bar, and the kitchen’s limitations—there’s no gas line or hood for heavy cooking there—made it the perfect fit.
