Katie Holmes's new boyfriend

Hello and welcome to Gossip Time, a weekly guide to the stars by Allie Jones. This week: an actress has a new beau, a pop star has a lovely vacation, and Hilary Duff has a shot of Malört.

One of the most exciting things that can happen is Katie Holmes getting a new boyfriend. I love her random, zig-zaggy taste in men: She went from, obviously, Tom Cruise, to a strange, semi-secret six-year relationship with Jamie Foxx, to briefer but much more public romances with the restaurateur Emilio Vitolo Jr. and the musician Bobby Wooten III. Who’s her new guy?

A not-really-famous New York artist named Jason Bard Yarmosky, of course!

Holmes, 47, and Yarmosky, 39, were first photographed holding hands at a screening of Olivia Wilde’s The Invite in the Hamptons earlier this month. “He was whispering in her ear, and she was laughing, they seemed very easy together and there was a smile on her face all night,” a source told People of the date. “They sat together during the movie, she had her head on his shoulder at one point. They looked very cute.”

Since then, the two have been papped on multiple dinner dates around the city, and sources have been even more forthcoming about their nascent relationship. “Katie has always been drawn to people who are creative,” a source told People. “She loves being around people who are passionate about what they do. She enjoys learning and experiencing new things.”

Same, girl.

In other Holmes-related news, her daughter, Suri Cruise, has officially changed her legal name to Suri Noelle. (Noelle is Holmes’s middle name; her birthday is December 18.) It’s interesting that the two most famous babies of 2006 — Suri and Shiloh Jolie — have now both dropped their famous dads’ last names (and their relationships with said dads, it seems). I wish them peace.

I don’t know what the future holds for Holmes and Yarmosky, but Foxx, 58, is expecting his third child with his current girlfriend Alyce Huckstepp. They were photographed having dinner together in Beverly Hills this week.

Also pregnant: Natalie Portman. The 45-year-old actress posted the most French maternity photo imaginable on Instagram on Wednesday:

Her boyfriend is the French music producer Tanguy Destable.

I really think that the next baby announcement is going to come from Katy Perry and former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau. Look at these two!!! They’re in St. Tropez, just doing whatever I guess:

Perry’s ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom, meanwhile, is on a beach in Italy with his new-ish 28-year-old Swiss model girlfriend Luisa Laemmel.

Everything is as it should be.
