Hello and welcome to Gossip Time, a weekly guide to the stars by Allie Jones. This week: a producer and an actress split up, a director breaks his silence, and Harry and Meghan change their minds again.
Paid subscribers got an in-depth look at the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce wedding guest list this week. Catch up here!
The gossip from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s 1000-person wedding so far has mostly been about who wasn’t there. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were not spotted at the Garden, and neither were Keleigh and Miles Teller. Also absent: Margaret Qualley, who married Swift’s longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff in New Jersey just about three years ago. (Swift was a guest, and her fans overran the town.)
According to Page Six, Antonoff, 42, told friends at Swift’s wedding that Qualley, 31, didn’t show because they had had a “tiff” before the event. But it’s a bit more than that: People exclusively reported Wednesday that they are separated.
“They argue a lot, and between her career and him constantly being on the road or working late in the studio, it’s been difficult,” a source told the tabloid.
Another source was more pointed in a conversation with Page Six: “Jack could be very particular about how he liked things. He’d often prefer for things to be done the way he thought was best, and Margaret didn’t always feel like her perspective was being heard or given the same weight.”
If you’ve read Lena Dunham’s (excellent and perfectly gossipy) Famesick, you know that tracks.
“They have been having issues for the last few years,” yet another source told Us Weekly, seemingly referring to the entirety of their marriage. “Margaret initiated the separation…At some point, the rose-colored glasses came off for Margaret, and she felt she needed to take a step back.”
In the wake of this news being published, Antonoff did a pap stroll in Brooklyn to show that he’s still wearing his wedding ring. Okay. Qualley, meanwhile, deleted most of the photos of Antonoff on her Instagram account. (She also changed her handle from @isimostar, a reference to one of Antonoff’s songs, to @sarahmargaretqualley23 back in April.)
Qualley was filming Jeff Nichols’ King Snake with Michael Shannon and Drew Starkey in Arkansas this spring. Some fans clocked that she also spent time with Starkey, the 32-year-old Outer Banks star, off set: They went to a baseball game and a swimming pool together. Sounds good to me!
Since we talked about it last week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Sussex have gone back and forth about six more times regarding their trip to England with the kids. This whole thing has been so poorly organized and communicated to the public (even for them). The latest: Meghan and the kids will travel to London after all, despite the lack of taxpayer-funded security, but they won’t make any public appearances. Oh well.
Hrrrgh I guess I should show you this video of Justin Baldoni and his wife, Emily Baldoni, “breaking their silence” about the Blake Lively lawsuit:
People who talk like this are so interesting to me. The faith they are referring to is Baháʼí, btw.
Lively and Reynolds are currently in Canada.
STUFF BY HILARY DUFF: Hilary Duff is the new spokesperson for Bath & Body Works:
I can’t imagine a better pairing of celebrity and brand.
Finally, I must leave you with the news that Luke Wilson, 54, had a baby with his girlfriend, who is 24:
Her name is Kendall Yates, and she’s uhh, well, we don’t know anything about her except that she started dating Wilson when she was 21. And now they have a baby. Also, Wilson got trapped in an elevator with Wes Anderson on Monday. They’re fine now.
Thanks so much for opening this email. And thank you especially to paid subscribers! Your contributions keep this operation running, and I love you.
