For our 50th Song of the Week we take pause from new music to honor one of the greatest songwriters, one of the greatest people, of all time, Dolly Parton.
I saw her once, back in 1977 at the old Oakdale, in the round, under a ratty tent. She was an inspiration in so many ways, but of course the music will always come first.
I present here a couple of my favorite Dolly songs. The joy apparent in the duet with Chet Atkins always made me smile. It made me teary-eyed today.
Here is “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind” by Dolly Parton & Chet Atkins.
Lyrically this is as heartbreaking as it is smart.
Here is “The Bargain Store” by Dolly Store
And here is the iconic “Coat of Many Colors” by Dolly Parton
Pop her name into any search engine, and discover your favorite Dolly song. You’ve got thousands to choose from.
R.I.P. Dolly Parton, your memory is certainly a blessing.
Here is a Spotify playlist containing all of the Songs of the Week in order (with the exception of the couple that are not on Spotify) Enjoy! Share! Play it loud!
