I’m Sacha, a writer, GenXer, Francophile, and creator of a Good Vintage, which I launched in 2023. This Substack is not about wine (although I do love a glass now and then). It’s about midlife, reinvention, and France—the country I now call home.
I’ve been a writer since the 1990s (GASP!) when I got my first job working for magazines at a publishing company in Chicago. Over the years, I’ve launched magazines (including the first Food Network Magazine), ran my own communications consulting business, and had bylines in outlets as varied as The Washington Post, Cosmopolitan, AARP The Magazine, New York Magazine, Slate, Fodor’s and many others. There’s a lot more to my career but that’s not why you’re here, so let’s move on, shall we?
I adore animals, books, Brit Pop, a good belly laugh, books, building community, singing, travel, and pastries. So. Many. Pastries. And of course, I love France. That’s why in our 50s, my husband and I packed up our life in the U.S. and moved here.
One of my favorite parts of being on Substack is the community. I’ve met wonderful people from all over the U.S., France, and other parts of the world both online and IRL. What a joy!
I would love to learn more about you and what brought you here. What’s your connection to France? Are you hoping to make a move here? What brings you joy?
Thank you for spending your precious time with me!
Bisous,
Sacha
