A Wall Street Journal analysis found insurers closed 45% of auto liability and medical claims without payment last year, against 35% a decade earlier. State Farm moved from 26% to 47% and Liberty Mutual from 29% to 54%. Collision claims were unchanged at roughly one in four closed without payment.
