Daniel Gold · Gold Standard Leadership

Podcast Description

Daniel reopens Episode 63, “The Eulogy You Haven’t Written Yet,” instead of recording something new this week. He explains why, live, from the road. The original episode asked what would actually be said about you at the end, and whether your current choices support that answer. This week’s return isn’t a rerun. It’s the argument tested against real evidence.

Show Notes

This week, Gold Standard Leadership does something new. Instead of a fresh episode, Daniel reopens Episode 63, “The Eulogy You Haven’t Written Yet,” and explains exactly why before asking you to relisten.

The reason is simple and unscripted. Daniel is traveling to New York for several days, stepping outside the routine that Episode 63 argues most leaders never interrupt. Rather than force a new hour of content into existence to protect a streak, he’s pointing directly at the episode that already made the argument he’s currently living.

Episode 63 traces its own lineage. It picked up a blog post Daniel wrote in 2013 and a conversation from Episode 8, asking the same question a decade apart: what would someone actually say about you at the end, and how much of that is already being decided by what you do this month, not someday.

The episode centers on the 360 review as the closest living equivalent to a eulogy available while you’re still standing to read it. Someone hands you an honest account of how you’re actually experienced, not how you intend to be experienced, and most people feel something for about a week and then change nothing. Episode 63 asks why that gap exists.

What this episode covers:

  • Why the 360 review functions as a eulogy you can still act on

  • The throughline connecting a 2013 blog post, Episode 8, and Episode 63

  • What it means to close the gap between how you intend to be experienced and how you actually are

  • Why disruption to routine, travel, a new environment, a break in the calendar, forces the eulogy question to the surface

Referenced in this episode:

  • Episode 8

  • Episode 63, “The Eulogy You Haven’t Written Yet”

A question to sit with before you listen:

What would you want someone to be able to say about how you spent the days nobody was tracking you?

New episodes return next week.
