MAGA Fife

Went to the county clerk to renew our vehicle registration the other day and the deputy working the entrance went out of his way to point out that he’s a Navy vet. I guess he noticed the veteran plate on our truck when we pulled up because he asked my husband what branch of the service he was in. I already gave my husband explicit instructions years ago to never discuss anything about the military with anyone else without my permission. I piped up and asked if there was a wait for service (clearly there was not) making it obvious that I was not in the mood to be delayed by a guy who wants to strike up a dumb conversation with my husband just because he sees another white guy.

Since my husband has an annoying tendency to be too nice to other white people when they are “slow”, we had to endure several minutes of the guy’s dribble. I bit my tongue for as long as I could through MAGA Barney Fife’s boring word salad. After listening to the dingbat go on and on about his family having been here since the 1800’s and how they fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War, I turned to my husband and said firmly, “Find out who we need to see to get the vehicle taken care of, this is a waste of MY time.”

The deputy changed his tone, gave me a dirty look, and finally allowed us to go through the entrance to finish our business. On the way out, he delayed us again to tell my husband that he’s welcome to join him, the sheriff, other deputies, and a few locals to “read some passages from the bible” at their small farm with the large Trump sign on the side of the barn. As we went out the door, I gave the dipshit a smirk and said “He already belongs to a book club.” I laughed loud enough in a rude manner for the deputy to hear it until we were out of the parking lot.

Years of putting up with white supremacist trash can wear one down to the point where “pleasantries” are more painful than hemorrhoids, strep throat, migraines, and irritable bowel syndrome acting up all at the same time. This is just one of several thousand examples that justify my right to be unfiltered around white trash.
