Thankful for small businesses and you

The holidays have arrived in full force, and if your email inbox looks anything like mine, the shopping season has arrived with it. But before the holiday chaos begins in earnest, I’d like to take a beat to shine a light on small businesses and the customers that support them.

Small businesses are the backbone of many communities across the United States, shaping both the community and contributing to the local economy. Almost half of the total employment in the U.S. comes from small businesses, and the tax revenue generated helps to fund local projects, such as schools, infrastructure, and public works.

And, over 90% of small businesses donate money to local charities and organizations, as well as volunteer their time locally, which helps to build strong community ties. There’s definitely a lot to be grateful to small businesses for.

But behind that economic engine are the customers who are dedicated to supporting local businesses. Those customers are the ones who understand that while small businesses may not always be the least expensive option, they are an important part of the economy and an investment in the local community.

So with Thanksgiving upon us, I’m grateful for the small businesses that power our communities and the customers who support them. Like you.
