While there’s lots of news of GLP1 benefits, keeping up with the negative side effects and risks of using GLP1s is arguably even more important. The recent evidence on links between GLP1s and NAION (colloquially “blinding disease”) has spurred the Australian government to action:

The Australian government has released an update to required warning labels on the risks of GLP1 and vision disorders.

A quick update on what NAION is:

Non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) is a medical condition characterized by loss of vision caused by damage to the optic nerve as a result of ischemia, or insufficient blood supply.

The key symptom of NAION is optic disc swelling, which typically resolves within 2 months, but often leads to optic atrophy. The likelihood of vision improvement after developing this condition is low.
