The Township of North Glengarry is without a chief administrative officer (CAO) as of this week, following Friday’s sudden departure of Sarah Huskinson from the township’s top staff position. Tim Simpson has been called up to fill in on an interim basis; he will also continue in his post as township clerk.
This morning, an official announcement was posted to North Glengarry’s website.
The official line is that the township and Huskinson “have parted ways” with immediate effect (as of last Friday).
According to Huskinson’s LinkedIn page (which as of today still showed her as North Glengarry CAO), she started with the township in December of 2017, initially as township treasurer, a role she held for five months, before stepping into the top job in April 2018. Previously, she worked as treasurer for the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands and deputy treasurer for the Town of Gananoque. Prior to that, Huskinson was a financial analyst at Kingston General Hospital.
On her promotion in 2018, North Glengarry’s then-mayor, Chris McDonell, was quoted as saying, “Council knows that Sarah will bring to the CAO/Clerk position the same diligence and excellence in leadership that she has displayed in her position in finance.”
Meanwhile, Huskinson stated, “I look forward to working in collaboration with Council, Staff, and our community partners, to meet the needs of our residents and to move the Township forward in a positive direction.”
Huskinson’s tenure as North Glengarry CAO last 7 years, 10 months.
Due to privacy rules related to employment matters, the township is providing no further comment on Huskinson’s departure.
