Cilician Armenian Allied Cavalry

While most wargamers instinctively reach for Turcopoles when looking to field regional allies for a First Crusade army, I wanted to build something a bit more unique. A unit of Cilician Armenian allied cavalry. These local Christian auxiliaries are vital aliies to the Crusaders as they pushed through the rugged terrain of southeastern Anatolia.

First Crusade: Tancred’s Command Element

Over the course of building and painting this army, I’ve found myself completely taken by the history of Prince Tancred. Though he technically marched in the shadow of his uncle, Bohemond of Taranto, during the early stages of the First Crusade, Tancred quickly carved out his own legendary reputation through sheer audacity, tactical brilliance, and relentless drive. Centered in the vanguard is…

Charging Into the Levant: First Crusade Knights

After plenty of time at the workbench, my First Crusade Frankish knights are officially based, grouped, and ready to ride down the enemies of Christendom. These, iron-clad knights of the Italo-Norman vanguard are ready to carve their way through the Levant.

French Cuirassier Captain

When I saw this pack I just had to add him to my Peninsular army.

Somewhere in Spain: El Pequeño Cuerno Grande

So going into this one, the intent was clear—this was supposed to play out like the Battle of the Little Bighorn . You had your split forces, aggressive cavalry and infantry, “this might go horribly wrong” Naturally… everyone completely ignored that and did their own thing 😂 Moawr Blud »

Flaming Pigs

Ancient sources record the use of pigs as weapons against war elephants. Greek writers such as Polyaenus and Aelianus Tacticus describe how, during the siege of Megara in 266 BC, defenders drove flaming, squealing pigs toward the elephants of the Macedonian king Antigonus II Gonatas, sending them into panic. The tactic proved effective enough that later commanders trained elephants alongside swine…

Phalanx Conversions

Doing some head and leg swaps as I organize the phalanx. Foundry never made any unarmored eastern phalangites or the bracing phalanx pose. I think the straw hats spread across the phalanx will give a unique look as well as the agema phalanx with plumes.

Somehwere in Spain: The battle for San Munoz

Had the fun of hosting a Thanksgiving game while everyone was home. It was a slugfest...Enjoy! Moawr Blud »

Cretan Archers

These will be protecting the phalanxes left flank along with some Thracian light cavalry.

Elite Agrianian Peltasts

I’m really excited about how these turned out! Can’t wait to get them sprinting alongside the Companik. Cavalry!

This is Macedonia!

I watch a lot of Kings and Generals on YouTube and they are mostly to blame for this! 😁 The king has just been assassinated and Alexander is consolidating his support, but what of the planned invasion of Persia? It would be folly to turn back now! Parmenion builds a bridgehead in the Hellespont as the kingdom gathers for war! First up had to be my war elephant, this will be used as a mercenary…
