Girls Leading Tech (formerly Girls in Tech) started with a simple online session I hosted on “WomenTechMaker Ambassador” Only five girls attended—from start to finish—but their passion lit the spark. After the session, they asked me to create a WhatsApp group for guidance. I did, naming it Girls in Tech, with a dream to build a safe, supportive space where girls could grow, share, and thrive in tech—despite the bias and barriers many still face. On Diwali 2024, we officially launched the community to welcome more like-minded girls from across the country.
In just 11 months, we’ve grown into 1900+ members from 150+ colleges across 23+ Indian states, with 11k+ overall followers on social media.
We’ve hosted 26 mentorship sessions, 5 coffee chats, 3 contests, and special campaigns like Valentine’s Week and EmpowerHer on IWD and 3 episodes of GLT Spotlight.
Some of our proudest milestones include launching the "GLT Spotlight", partnering with SheCanCode, and hosting inspiring speakers from Google, Microsoft, Uber, Infosys, SAP, and more—gathering 14k+ YouTube views and 750+ subscribers in 5 months.

GirlScript Summer of Code (GSSOC)- It’s an open source program conducted every year by GirlsScript Foundation. This program is currently open and you can apply in it. It doesn’t have any tough selection process like GSOC. So you can easily get it.
WomenTech Makers Ambassador - It’s an initiative by Google to support women in tech by providing them mentorship, resources to upskill and support by giving access to all the WTM Ambassador worldwide. The application would open up around June or July. So stay tuned.
Social Summer of Coder (SSOC) - Social Summer of Code (SSoC) is an open-source program organized by Social and Reskilll, designed to connect students with open-source organizations and projects
European Summer of Code (ESOC) - European Summer of Code (ESoC) funds stipends for contributors new to open source, and matches open source projects and applied AI projects throughout Europe.
Non technical mentorship program: The Aspire Leaders Program welcomes limited-income and first-generation university students and recent graduates from around the world to join a free online interactive leadership development journey that is manageable along your other commitments.
Technical mentorship program: It’s 8 weeks of educational instruction, hands-on tech demos, and peer support, aimed at accelerating Web3 careers.

We interviewed Siddhi Gupta, a first-year student at NIT Kurukshetra. She shared her journey, from scoring 99.25 percentile in JEE mains to becoming an AFE Scholar in her first year.
