People ask me all the time - “What is your favorite thing about being an author?” I’ve never been able to answer that. I still can’t.
I love the research.
I love the writing.
I love the publishing and marketing.
I love communicating with my readers.
Every single thing brings me joy and satisfaction.
I’m focused today, though, on communicating with my readers.
Here’s why...
I have been communicating with Elaine for the last few years. She wrote me years ago to tell me she had started a New Years Day tradition with her daughters-in-law and her granddaughters, in honor of Carrie and Rose. Her vision was to create the same joy of greeting the New Year together - but most importantly she wanted to give her “girls” the legacy of knowing and supporting each other as women and family. Amazing!
A month or so ago, she wrote me with a special request. She let me know she was putting together a very special time with her “girls” in July. She has bought an entire set of the paperback versions of The Bregdan Chronicles for each of the 3 families. Wow! By the time our communication had concluded, I had promised to send her autographed nameplates for each book (they’re on my desk, ready to be mailed). More importantly...
I’m going to do a ZOOM call with them on their special day so I can meet them all, answer their questions, and encourage them to be Bregdan Women - in their family and in the world.
What a complete privilege. And what total FUN it will be to do it!
P.S. It has happened - it was amazing and fabulous fun!
Then...
I got a call from a reader/friend who has taken a new job at a Virginia Detention Center as a teacher. She has 10 students in each class - kids who face challenges in life and have made some mistakes.
She told me about a plan she had to combine history and literature, and asked me what I thought about using The Bregdan Chronicles. We talked, chose which book we would focus on, and made plans.
I wish you could have seen the smile on my face, or the happy dance I did in my office while we were talking! Teenagers are my passion - my favorite part of the human race. This is a dream come true for me.
The Bregdan Chronicles are already curriculum for many home-school associations, but this is even more exciting for me because of the challenges these kids have to deal with.
I found out last week that the Superintendent of the Detention Centers had agreed to let me do a Zoom call with the students!
YES!!!!!
More joy. More fulfillment. More anticipation!
See why I can’t choose what aspect of my life I love the most?
The bottom line for me is that I want to be a Voice in the World. I want to bring history to life. I want to be a voice of Truth. I want to engage with my readers. I want to make a difference in every way possible.
All of you reading my books make each thing a reality for me.
THANK YOU!!

There are now 22 books in the Bregdan Chronicles!
Have you made me cry?? Or laugh?? Or made me so very glad I have the best readers in the world??
If you’ve written a review of one of my books, you probably did. :) Every time I get a little overwhelmed by the pressures of research or writing, I go to Amazon and read my Reviews. They never fail to give me the motivation and energy to continue forward.
I just finished reading all the new reviews since Lifted By The Wings of Destiny was released. I loved every one of them!
As I bring # 23 (The Woven Braid) to life, it would mean the world to me if you would go and leave a review for one (or more) of The Bregdan Chronicles. I will consider it a personal message from you to me...
I’m even going to make it easy for you. :)
