For yourself?

For your life?

For your relationships?

Do you even measure success?

For many people, money is one important unit of measurement. If not the most important for so many Americans. As someone who has lost a lot of money over the past two years of business, I’ve felt this pain. Feeling like a failure. And then again.

But was it? A failure, I mean. Well, the answer depends on how you measure success. We often forget that WE are the ones who set these measurements for ourselves. These metrics or Objectives and Key Results (Ohhhh KKKKK UURRR. Get it? Hehe).

As my Pinay therapist said to me the other day:

“Gina, it doesn’t seem like money is a huge motivation for you. In fact, it’s a trigger. So why do you keep measuring your success against money?”

DAYAM. She was right. In fact, money is the cause of so much emotional trauma and triggers around finances and financial security. Having money scarcity makes it hard to run a business - peacefully and sustainably at least.

I realize that measuring myself against something I don’t really care about hasn’t been serving me, or my business. This year, I’m committing to creating new meaningful metrics for myself and my life.

Instead I want to measure success by:

  • Measuring my Impact.

  • The quality of my Relationships.

  • The feeling of Joy being present.

  • The amount of Learning I experienced.

  • The Love that was shared and felt.

Just writing that felt good. I wonder how I would score against these new metrics? Right now, at least this 2025, I feel like I’m doing pretty well.

I’m focused.

I’m forgiving myself.

I’m turning inward to improve what I have control over…me.

  • Doing wall Pilates / core calisthenics to strengthen my knee daily.

  • Drinking more water every day.

  • Joining Noom and enjoying tracking things and reading.

  • Eating clean! Including morning mango green shakes and a hard boiled egg (breakfast has always been such a struggle for me - hello daily Philz Turkey Breakfast sandwiches).

  • Beating some bad habits, like always drinking so much alcohol at industry events (I’ve been craving sparkling water instead!)

  • Communicating more clearly and directly with people

  • Learning how to “curate myself” so I can stay focused on big picture vision

I’m curious how you measure your own success for your life? Drop your metrics and OKuuRRRRRs in the comments :)
