Just announced in Publisher’s Marketplace: I sold a novel!

I’ve been working on this in stealth mode for about a year and a half, so it’s a thrill to finally talk about it here and there and everywhere. There WAS foreshadowing, like in this post, and this letter.

The short story is this: In 2022, in the midst of a full-blown romance novel addiction (I read 100+!), I watched the movie My Best Friend’s Wedding and had LOTS OF OPINIONS. To combat a bout of the what’s-next-in-my-career blues, I wrote a sequel to the movie. I know. What an odd way to spend (waste?) my time. What can I say? The idea was festering inside me and needed to come out. And then in 2024, I decided to use that script as source material in my own original novel that follows the movie’s basic plot line. It takes place in my hometown (Palos Verdes, California), and it’s sexy and more than a little weird (three words: peacock murder subplot).

I can’t wait to share it with you.

In an upcoming post, I will tell you the WHOLE story: how I came up with the idea and sketched out the general plot and wrote two drafts while working full-time content marketing jobs and giving gratitude talks. But for now, please ask any questions in the comments. I’d love to know what you’re curious about.

P.S. I took this picture with Fabio while working at Rachael Ray mag in the mid-aughts. Perhaps this was the moment I decided to someday write my own romance. Apologies to my wonderful husband who tolerates it as I repost this photo every year or so.
