Something that’s been talked about and talked about for years finally happened this week. Both Jason and Sonny wanted out of the mob for different reasons. It reminded me of that movie, Married to the Mob, the 1988 Jonathon Demme comedy which saw Michelle Pfeiffer’s character, Angela wanting to get out of the mob world after her husband makes a fatal mistake with a powerful boss. She packs up and moves to a new place to start fresh with her young son, but a local mafia boss sets his romantic sights on her, making her life complicated again. At the same time, an undercover agent watches her closely to catch the big crime bosses. She has to outsmart both sides to win her true freedom.
Maybe GH could do a similar plot where Selina Wu sets her sights on Sonny while undercover agent Joss watches Sonny closely to catch all the big crime bosses (though at last count, I think The Five Families was just down to one since Selina left town awhile ago). So Sonny has to outsmart both Selina and Joss to win his true freedom.
THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO HMMMM….:
1.) Gio is a responsible person in every way shape and form so how does he forget such an important meeting with Simon? I can see ditzy Trina doing that, but both of them?
2.) Why is Josslyn jogging in Snark Park right after getting out of the hospital? Why isn’t she on a treadmill in a rehab facility being instructed by a physical therapist?
3.) Was Jacinda always doing/dealing drugs?
4.) Why would Anna be jumping to conclusions so quickly with Valentin?
5.) Is the softball game over? Ric is going to meet Liz, not dressed for softball but then announces he’s the pitcher on Sonny’s team. (I guess Corinthos Coffee is not playing that day.)
6.) If Ric is meeting Liz after the game, supposedly for a date, then why is Liz telling Ric she’s tired and just wants to take a raincheck.
7.) On Friday, Ric sees Dante and Liz in an intimate scenario, which is interrupted by Britt arriving with the equipment. On Monday, the scene is repeated with Ric coming upon Dante and Liz, but no Britt in sight.
8.) Why is Stella babysitting Desmond if she just got this new job as GH’s Chief Administrator? Why isn’t Hat Daddy taking care of his grandson?
9.) Wouldn’t Simon have shared his marketing plans with BLQ BEFORE everyone signed a contract?
10.) Why did Trina’s stalker cut Kai out of a picture AFTER Simon found out that Kai is Trina’s boyfriend?
11.) If Curtis is such a public figure and pillar of the community, why is there no public support in the courtroom? At least throw in some gawkers.
12.) Why was there never a mention that Trina was graduating college (apparently on the five year plan) and now, all of a sudden, everyone is talking about Trina’s graduation after the fact?
13.) What part of adoption do Chase and BLQ don’t understand? They are worried about the birth father showing up for money? It doesn’t matter, the baby is theirs.
14.) Hat Daddy mentions he’s going to pull the car around at the courthouse. Did he drive Jordan and Curtis to the trial? What did he do, then? Just sit in the car and listen to news radio?
15.) So Jax takes off to sail around the world, leaving his company up in the air and doesn’t talk to his daughter about taking over as the CEO?
16.) The Chief of Police tracks down the new hire to get to know him when he’s off the clock and not during business hours? If I were the new hire, I’d rethink my job choice.
17.) Hudson got back from Norway pretty fast to spy on Ava at The Metro Court.
SINCE WHEN?: People who find out Joss is in the WSB: Nina, who is surprised, Michael, who is delighted, Hudson, who doesn’t think Joss is the type to be a WSB agent.
NEW DAY: Tuesday was a brand new day in Port Charles as Michael went to have breakfast with Carly and Joss.
SCENE OF THE WEEK: Jason’s return to the Quartermaine fold, telling Tracy his regrets.
BREAKUP TO MAKE UP?: Not only does Jason retire from the mob (for good?), Sonny announces to Dante, that he too, is retiring.
WARNINGS: Joss warns Brennan about Nina; Valentin warns Nina about Brennan; Laura warns Brennan she isn’t too eager to have a nice relationship with the WSB, even though Brennan says they are staying out of the Sidwell investigation and leaving it to the local authorities.
POPCORN OR PETER?: Emma runs out to get popcorn before she and Anna watch a movie and guess who pops up to spout some Shakespearean wisdom?
BEAUTIFUL MUSIC: Simon wanted to promote Gio and Trina as a love duo which caught the young musicians off guard.
THE JEROME-ROBINSON GALLERY: It’s not going to happen because of Trina’s new dream, but it was Ava’s graduation gift for her long time mentee. But Trina agrees to stay on part-time.
THE TRIAL: The hunky former locked-in ex-congressman pops up to be on Curtis’s side in the trial to recant his story that Willow was on Route 91 the night of the one-car accident. He was good on his word while NotTad Martin kept trying to tie the accident into the punch Curtis threw. NotTad also tried to make an issue of Portia being with Isaiah but Portia defended herself by saying that she and Curtis were separated when she first started seeing Isaiah and that Curtis was back with his ex-wife. Molly did a fairly good job of prosecuting but by week’s end the trial was over and we were waiting for a verdict.
Meanwhile, Lucas and Joe are now a mutual admiration society because they were both impressed at how the other handled the courtroom situation.
AWKWARD: Molly and Jordan run into each other at the pool. Molly wonders if they are okay and Jordan wonders why she held back at the trial. They grab a table, and Jordan knows Molly went easy on her and didn’t ask her tough questions, nor put her in a position to hurt Curtis, so she thanks her. Molly admits it was important to her to spare her any undo harm, and Jordan respects that and her. As much as Jordan loves her, she prays Molly loses this case.
Later, Anna and Jordan have a mini-reunion poolside.
SNARK QUEEN OF THE WEEK: Aunt Liesl, who was doubtful of everything Willow and could give two f**ks. She tries to give Willow advice and tells her not to hurt Nina.
Willow drops the bombshell that she is going after full custody by getting Anna to reopen the attempted murder case and later gets a restraining order against Jacinda, who retaliates by slipping some pills into Willow’s iced coffee, and now Willow is about to get in a car with Wiley and Amelia.
RAMEN BABY ADOPTION: Ned and Olivia pop up to celebrate Phoebe’s official adoption, after BLQ hedges and haws again.
NOT DONE YET: Generic brunette Hudson pops up in Norway to confront generic Mr. Davidson aka NuEthan. For plot purposes, the writers throw Ethan under the bus and Hudson finds out where he is and takes Ethan in a fight - he’s a Navy S.E.A.L.? - NuEthan tells Hud that Delilah is dead and so is the baby but his room is bugged so Hud hears that’s not the truth when NuEthan calls Ava. Ava and Sonny argue over Ethan because Sonny thinks Ava is the cause for why he fled town.
NEW YORK TRIP: Tracy wants to whisk BLQ away but BLQ refuses to go and reiterates that Chase must never find out that she may have been on the road the night of the accident.
FASHION: Hudson’s little boy Sears jacket look with a stretched out-of-shape T-shirt is a big fat no-no (how Michael used to look in suits when Chad Duell was in the role).
JASPER JACKS IS BACK: Not actually, but as a plot point. Hudson works for Jax and brings papers for Joss to sign as the new CEO. Sure, why not? Did Carly have something to do with this? Hudson then berates Joss for not wanting the company. Instead of firing him, Joss just wants him to get somebody to run the company so she doesn’t have to think about the company ever again.
OVERHEARD: Trina overhears Willow’s plan when Nina calls Jack. Willow isn’t too pleased Nina is confiding in Jack and is even more annoyed when Jack wants to chat her up at The Metro Court pool. Hudson overhears Joss’ run in with Ava.
DECEPTION IS NOT JUST A COMPANY: Lucy holds court at Bobbie’s and frets about her plan, first with Serena, then Felicia, then wants Laura to call Kevin and get him back in town for a surprise party for Serena. Laura makes excuses. (Kevin is now teaching into the fall semester and can’t come back.)
Meanwhile, Serena puts on her best bathing suit (out of 10 she brought with her!) and before she can confront Michael, slips on the pool deck right into Brennan’s lap. She then aggressively taunts Michael with the fact that she came back to support her mother and will be joining Deception to support her mother. Michael doesn’t seem to care but warns her that he won’t be the problem, Tracy will be.
AN UNHOLY ALLIANCE: Ava invites Drew for a drink to discuss their mutual enemy, Sonny. They agree to have each other’s back because they both have been through similar situations.
MENTIONS: Kevin, Ace, Yuri, Monica, Alan, Cody.
