The Dog Has to Go!

“This is a story about obsession,” he reminded me, “a woman who stalks her prey doesn’t need a yellow Lab to tell the story. You have a vibe going here—there’s no place for the dog!”

In my work-in-progress—working title “Breaking the Code of Silence”—I’m considering bringing back the Lab—she knows the secrets and by including her I can create tension by keeping the main character silent.

There are outtakes and scenes never before published written for “Paper Bags” in which the Lab tells the secrets—deeper and darker than possible for a passive writer.

In the Kirkus review I paid $550 for, what the book received was a synopsis in which the reviewer labeled the protagonist a Sad Sack. Good Thing “Paper Bags” was written as a novel rather than a memoir because otherwise the writer might have felt like she had not only invited the beast in for tea but paid him as well.
