Lyanne Alvarado — Season 3, Episode 3

Lyanne Alvarado is an arts administrator and fundraiser based in Houston, where she grew up and developed an early love for music, community, and performance. She holds two Bachelor of Music degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Education from University of North Texas and earned her Master’s degree in Vocal Performance from Texas State University in 2020.

In 2019, she co-founded Opera by the River, a summer opera program for high school students, an experience that helped launch her multifaceted career spanning artistic operations, administration, and fundraising. Prior to moving into philanthropy, Lyanne served as Assistant Manager of Rehearsal Planning and Artist Services at Houston Grand Opera, where she was also a founding member and Co-chair of the organization’s Equity, Access, and Belonging Committee, championing a more inclusive and accessible environment.

Lyanne was selected as a LEADer with the Sphinx Organization, completing a two-year leadership development program focused on preparing the next generation of executive leaders in the arts. She also participated in the inaugural Clayco Future Leaders Fellowship at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis as Administration Fellow and previously served as Artistic Administration Apprentice at Glimmerglass Festival.

Her philanthropy career has included roles as Philanthropy Officer for Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy Officer, Acquisitions at Houston Grand Opera. She currently serves as Individual Giving Manager at Stages, a major regional theatre known for new work and community impact.

An ardent advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion both on and off the stage, Lyanne finds joy in salsa dancing, learning her mother’s authentic Mexican recipes, and building community in her hometown.
