Hello!

This is a pretty straightforward newsletter today—I’m giving you the very first look at the Quarter Life ash can!

Quarter Life is going to be a 48-page one-shot comic, written and co-created by me, illustrated and co-created by Bob Quinn, and lettered by Justin Birch.

Comics first, then babbling…ENJOY!

First, a level-setting statement: This is a SUPER EARLY preview. Bob is currently working on a super-secret, super-cool project that is his main focus.

Once that wraps up, and he takes a well-deserved breather, he’ll be putting this back on the drawing board. Right now, he has 29 pages inked and 11 colored of Quarter Life.

This is the definition of a passion project. A slice-of-life one-shot makes NO financial sense. Like…at all.

But the more I thought about Cass and her terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day, the more I fell in love with her and had to tell this story.

Luckily, Bob felt the same way after reading the outline. So we’re balancing Quarter Life with the mortgage-paying gigs.

Like Quarter Life, the other series I’m working on, Universal Champion, is in the “making” stage. So with Free Comic Book Day and spring conventions coming up, I wanted to have something new on the table—hence, the Quarter Life ash can.

I also realized I wasn’t doing Bob’s art justice when I was talking about it. So now I get to hand people the ash can and scream, “I mean…JUST LOOK AT IT!”
