I ♥ RSS – A directory of people who love RSS

I just added my site to the list. Cool stuff!

I ❤️ RSS!

It's pretty rad.

I hate computers so much. Only 10 minutes into the day, and already dealt with two bullshit problems. Volume control was not working on MacBook Pro laptop. Restarting the machine fixed the problem. Airfoil couldn't connect to a Satellite. Restarting Airfoil fixed the problem. If that was the first 10 minutes, I imagine by the 4th hour I'll have put all of these cursed machines directly into the…

New dumb thing I think I'll start, #typos . First up... udpate I do this so fucking much .

US AI Stock Sell-Off Shakes Markets From Wall Street To Asia

SpaceX fell 16% I’m sure this will be fine.

HTTP status code reference

I find myself going to the MDN page for HTTP status codes regularly enough that I thought a nice little table of the codes could be helpful. I'm sure something like this exists, but after approximately 26 seconds of searching for it, I gave up, and now the world is cursed with this.

POWER-PILL/ASCII-Aquarium

ASCII Aquarium turns your Cheap Yellow Display into an tiny animated ASCII fish tank. It renders a live aquarium scene with animated fish, bubbles, swaying seaweed, tap-to-feed food flakes, occasional octopus & seahorse visitors, selectable backgrounds, preferences, optional Wi-Fi clock sync, & More! Seems like a good use of under $20.

The Loop: everything has happened before, and everything will happen again

We're very good at making the loops run faster. We're not so good at stopping them. We're very dumb monkeys.

kepano/defuddle: Get the main content of any page as Markdown.

Might need to switch out Readability for this. Seems cool. HT to Matt Birchler. He's making a new "read later" service and using this to parse the content out of pages.

pastey

I made a dumb thing with the robots because of something Josh said, and that I'd been wanting for chatting on IRC. Pastey

louislam/uptime-kuma: A fancy self-hosted monitoring tool

Uptime Kuma is an easy-to-use self-hosted monitoring tool. Also definitely giving this a try. H/T to Joshtronic

Coolify

An open-source & self-hostable alternative to Vercel, Heroku, Netlify and Railway for easily deploying websites, databases, web applications and 280+ one-click services to your own server. I'll definitely be giving this a go.

Design Engineering 101: Typeahead

Custom MacOS App Icons with IconRulesAgent

On MacOS, you can very easily change app icons . I was toying around with that, getting rid of squicles in Tahoe, and figured it would probably be pretty easy to get a robot to make an app to do that for me. To that end, with a lot of help from the robots, I have created " IconRulesAgent ". The way it works is super simple - you drag an app onto a window, which creates a folder named for the app.…

I Can Only Count to FOUR

HT to BoingBoing for this delightful video.

Interface Sound Effects

From Louie Mantia : Playing Nintendo games—even just using Nintendo Switch 2 software—makes me wish macOS was flooded with lots of interface sound effects. For clicking down, up, resizing windows, minimizing windows, zooming windows, dragging windows, clicking buttons... Agreed. I miss all the fun sound effects (and nicer UI) from the good old days .

The Verge: Discord will require a face scan or ID for full access next month

IRC , anyone?

The quality shop · mzll

HT to Eric Schwarz for introducing me to Luigi by way of this excellent post. I immediately subscribed to his RSS feed and I'm looking forward to seeing what he has to say in the future.

RSS Icon :-)

I added an RSS icon in the footer. I stole it from LMNT . It looks slick as hell.

Maybe I'll switch back later, but for now I've jumped ship to #Waterfox because of all the #AI garbage coming to #Firefox . It's been about a week and I'm really loving it.

Dank Linux

I saw this a couple weeks ago and while the name is undeniably horrible, I thought it looked so slick. So I took an old 2013 #MacBook Pro, threw #Arch on it, and here I am, a couple weeks later writing code, pushing updates to things, and really loving the tiling window manager life.

Making macOS Bearable

Some cool stuff in here I might have to try, like VIM-ing out my whole OS.

Things I Waste My Time On: Part 1

Relay chat server in Bun . Yes, I know about IRC, but I just wanted to do something fun and goofy. This was a good use of my weekend nights, right?

Festivitas adds snow, Shortcuts, iPhone widgets to its holiday package

They're Made out of Meat

Nope. They're born meat and they die meat. We studied them for several of their life spans, which didn't take too long. Do you have any idea the life span of meat? HT kottke

The Future is Colourful and Dimensional - by Michael Flarup

Flat design is over. The future is colourful and dimensional. Here's hoping 🤞

I don't want your robots

I feel like it says something about how few people want to use this shit that both of the options they give you here seem to say “yep, i want this” and there is no really obvious “fuck off” option… Not as obvious as the giant buttons at the bottom, anyway. And yes, I see the "X", and I clicked it. But that shouldn't be the only way to opt out of this garbage. Google trying to force Gemini on me

hacker labs · pico.sh

This seems cool. Host pages, blogs, create tunnels, and have your own pastebin, all for free and all through a terminal over SSH!

Adventures in ActivityPub

I posted previously (and previously ) about adding ActivityPub to my blog. Well, that shit definitely isn't happening. After a few weeks of learning, coding, learning, re-coding, and then a few weeks of struggling to figure out how to deal with all the dumb shit that the AP protocol does, and then a few weeks of more coding and trying to stuff all the AP shit into here, I decided it's just not…

Link Roulette

On Friday, sitting around after dinner, Lauren had the idea of something like Stumbleupon, but just for your own links. And after a couple days of banging away on the keyboard, the result is Link Roulette ! Check it out, and enjoy!

Running NextJS behind an Apache proxy is fun

So this site is a #NextJS app and it sits behind an #Apache proxy. Yes, Apache, and not NGINX. It's what was running on this server before my site lived here, and it works well enough, don't worry about it. Anyway, I was having a super cool issue where a single JS file was refusing to load, and giving me a 404. Well, when the JS file didn't load, the whole fucking site would crash, but the actual…
