A sell-out crowd of 12s at Lumen Field welcomed their victorious team, marking a raucous start to a downtown parade with more than a million fans, far surpassing 2014 estimates of the team’s only other Super Bowl victory.
Not even diehards expected a finish like this. According to KIRO’s Seattle Sports magazine last fall,
The national outlook for the 2025 Seattle Seahawks is, well, not particularly optimistic.
Most preseason power rankings have the Seahawks in the lower half of the NFL, hovering somewhere between the high teens and low 20s. Most win-loss projections slot them around 8-9 or 9-8.
But when you really dive into this Seahawks team, that doesn’t really seem to add up. While it’s surely possible the Hawks end up being a sub-.500 team, there’s much more reason to believe Mike Macdonald’s crew will take another step forward and reach 11 or maybe even 12 wins this fall.
Well, you can’t win them all.
Seventeen wins later, including a decisive Super Bowl win last Saturday over the New England Patriots - on rival San Francisco 49er’s home field in Santa Clara, California - with most national sports pundits waiting until today before jumping on the Hawk bandwagon, the Seahawks ignored the noise and took care of business. Head coach Mike MacDonald, said it best,
“We. Did. Not. Care.'“
It’s also worth noting, since the New England Patriots beat the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX back in 2015, the Patriots are winless against the Seahawks, at 0 and 4.
