It’s August here.
Yet when I think of you,
it feels like September.
You left me
with a heart
out of temper,
roaming deserted roads,
memory too thin
to tell August
from September.
Bare hands
holding nothing
but the heat of August
and the stillness
of September.
MOHAMMED MOUSSA
Mohammed Moussa, a Palestinian poet and journalist from Gaza, highlights the struggles and resilience of his people through evocative poetry. He founded the Gaza Poets Society in 2018 to support young writers, and was shortlisted for the 2022 Freedom of Expression Awards. Moussa's work reflects the complex realities of life in Gaza, blending personal and communal experiences.
