All international travel isn’t the same. You must do your research on the destination before your trip, beyond just booking the ticket.
Travelers are being denied boarding at the gate because they never applied for an ETA to visit the United Kingdom. If you didn’t know, the UK requires US residents to apply for an ETA.
This rule was implemented in January 2025, but I’m bringing it up today after a brief conversation I had with a gate agent who flagged yet another minor issue.
It’s not just first-time travelers getting caught off guard. It’s travelers who had already done the right thing but overlooked this small clause.

US Customs and Border Protection is testing a new Global Entry system that verifies travelers using cameras as they walk toward passport control, eliminating the need to stop at a kiosk. The pilot is currently underway at six airports (Boston, Dallas-Fort Worth, JFK, Philadelphia, Seattle, and San Francisco) as CBP seeks to expedite the arrival process for trusted travelers further.
The Department of Transportation has closed its investigation into Delta's July 2024 operational meltdown and will not issue any penalties. The agency said Delta provided passengers with appropriate refunds, baggage assistance, and disability accommodations following the CrowdStrike outage that led to roughly 7,000 cancellations and more than 10,000 delays.
The US Embassy in Nassau is warning Americans to avoid renting jet skis in The Bahamas, citing a pattern of serious injuries, medical evacuations, and reported sexual assaults involving US travelers. The advisory comes after six Americans were hospitalized in jet ski accidents since 2024 and four women reported assaults by operators since 2025.
Hawaiian Airlines is eliminating complimentary meals in economy on most Hawaii-mainland flights starting July 1, replacing them with a pre-order menu of Hawaiian-inspired dishes available for purchase. Passengers will still receive a free beverage, snack, and sweet treat, while complimentary meals will remain on the airline's longest domestic route between Honolulu and New York-JFK.
The FAA has launched a new public website that lets travelers track more than 10,000 air traffic control modernization projects underway nationwide. The platform includes an interactive map, local airport search tool, and progress tracker as the agency begins spending $12.5 billion to upgrade aging radar, communications, and air traffic control infrastructure.
TSA screened more than 11.4 million travelers between Thursday and Sunday, averaging 2.85 million passengers per day as airports experienced one of the busiest travel weekends of the year.
