It’s crazy to think that this is only the 6th annual TABC Showcase - and this year’s Texas scholastic Live Period has gotten even bigger as we will have 556 teams taking the floor this weekend in front of the college coaches and national media.

And just as this weekend serves an excellent platform for Texas prospects of all levels to shine with their high school programs, it’s also a great opportunity for the GASO staff to connect prospects with our nationwide subscriber base of college coaches and cover the state like no other.

So whether it’s potential state championship matchups, individual duels between prospects trying to move up the rankings, or players trying announce themselves to the state and beyond - the GASO staff has you covered with everything to watch for across the full 3 days of Texas High School basketball’s biggest recruiting weekend.

The GASO staff has been in constant contact with college coaches from every level in the run up to the TABC Showcase, and have already earmarked several games on each day that will have a ton of college eyes on them. We preview several games from each day of the event below starting with the Friday slate.

Friday (6/26) Games to Watch:

Lubbock Trinity Christian vs Plano Prestonwood - 2:05 PM, DHS 2

There will be college coaches lined up for this match up as there is plenty to see. For LTC there is Beckett McCasland, Jet Naegele, Zavian Willis, and Calvin Gilbert. For Prestonwood, take a look at Jacob Richard, Sutter Wechsler, and newcomer to the program, Trey Edwards.

Dallas South Oak Cliff v. Clear Lake - 3:10 PM, DHS 1

Damon Miles has been on a tear through the spring, and now will get to go head to head with SOC’s Jon Bradley in what will be one of the best 2027 guard matchups of the weekend. Clear Lake returns a ton of depth and experience from last season, but top-15 ranked 2028 Max Moody joins SOC to make this one very interesting.

Humble v. Lake Travis - 3:10 PM, DHS 3

JaeQuarian Lincoln should have a lot of eyes on him this weekend with Humble bringing back a lot of last year’s production, against an Aaron Mathis & Will Slyker led Lake Travis team that look on the verge of a breakthrough in Region IV.

Katy Seven Lakes v. North Crowley - 4:15 PM, DHS 2

A matchup that a lot of people expected to see at the Alamodome last season, but the story here will be how their stars handle business in what should be an electric matchup. Isaak Hayes put on a show in the playoffs on his way to a 6AD1 title (and championship game MVP honors), but how will Kam Price and the rest of NC handle the most impactful 2027 prospects in the country in Isaiah Santos? Seven Lakes returns other key pieces Dean Spencer and Alex Teahen for a team that only lost one game in the HS season.

Austin St Michael’s vs Houston Episcopal - 4:15 PM, DFH 1

Two of the most intriguing bigger guards in the 2027 class will meet up as Sun Jinkal takes on Alim Olajuwon in a matchup that should draw plenty of next level eyes to their court. Newly added forward Dylan Howard and 2029 Nico Cajas should also be on plenty of radars for St. Mike’s, with Episcopal bringing their own stable of talent into play as well (Nyle Harrison, Caleb Clay, Jordan Goffney).

San Antonio Harlan v. Humble Atascocita - 5:20 PM, DHS 2

Josiah Jones makes his return to Harlan for TABC and will have a really fun individual matchup with Royce Shelton to evaluate. And in the fronctourt trenches, it will be Amoni Francis versus Anthony Key. With plenty of potential X factors on the floor for both teams, I’d keep an eye on Carter Savoy for Atascocita and Jordan Mangum for Harlan.

Dallas Carter v. Houston Second Baptist - 5:20 PM, DHS 1

Maybe THE matchup of the weekend. Two state championship teams that bring back their star players and more than a few other recruitable prospects. Need a lead guard that is a proven bucket getter? Check out Reese Alston and Amarion Hunter. Scoring wing with size? Give Kaiden Eason, Shaq Kizzee, Brodrick Wyatt, and Wil Goolsby a look. And what may be the most fascinating matchup of all will be taking place in the paint between two of Texas’ best 2028 bigs with Terrell Jackson and Kaiden Smith. Expect a standing room only crowd in the college coaches section for this one…

Saturday (6/27) Games to Watch:

Alvin Shadow Creek v. Killeen Ellison - 9:00 AM, DHS 1

A rematch from last year during Thanksgiving break, with both teams among the most consistent programs in their areas at producing next level prospects. New add Xavier Muhammad should pair nicely with BJ LaFell and Jaylen Addai on the interior for Shadow Creek, while I’m ready to see more from Jaelynn Ransom for Ellison.

Allen v. Houston Christian - 11:10 AM, DFH 2

Just on the sheer number of recruitable dudes that will be on the floor, I’d advise every college staff to have at least one coach present for this one. Houston Christian’s Landon Veal has been in-demand for some time now, but a healthy Cadarian Urune and Tyson Chandler II will offer a stern test for Houston Christian. Josiah McGowan and Will Arriaga are also having big summers for HC, but Allen can counter with Giovanni Watt, Dylan Matlock-Reed and Ayden McClinton in what should be a really competitive matchup.

San Antonio Brennan v. Houston St Francis Episcopal - 12:15 PM, DFH 2

Who steps up to be the guy for Brennan? It will be a young core group for a team that sent three players to UTEP in the 2026 recruiting class, but I think they have some talent in their younger groups to make some noise this weekend. Marley Maxwell and 2029 Mykai Byrd should be a formidable opponents for multiple teams this weekend, as SFE looks to return to the top of TAPPS after a rebuilding year following their 2025 4A title.

Arlington Grace Prep v. Houston Heights - 4:35 PM, DFH 1

This one will be a real high octane showdown between two teams that are absolutely loaded with college prospects. EJ Beard versus MJ Boyd should be worth the price of admission alone, and then you consider that Heights also has Eric Ekwegbara, Jamison Bailey and Teron Watts on the roster, while Grace Prep can trot out Tre Green, Kei Scott, Amari Coleman and Joel Hudgins.

Lufkin v. Mansfield Summit - 8:55 PM, DHS 1

The two-time defending state champs Summit against a Lufkin group that brought back a ton of contributors following Austin Brown’s departure to Maryland. 2029 Joseph Creal III will likely be Summit’s focal point following his State Title Game MVP performance in the Alamodome a few months back, but Summit also brings back key contributors such as David Bardere, Mason Williams and Emund Pritchett II. But Lufkin is no stranger to winning games with their toughness and will have several prospects to monitor such as Cayden Burse, Kevo Moore, and Victor Price.

Sunday (6/28) Games to Watch:

Duncanville v. Houston Strake Jesuit - 10:05 AM, DHS 1

Two teams that will be heavily involved in the conversation for our “way too early” Top 10 rankings in class 6A. Duece Hunt will have the spotlight on him as the team’s veteran presence, but has plenty of firepower in support with Bae Bae Groom, Luckie Harbert and dual freshman phenoms DJ Parker and Heir Jackson. For Strake, Emmanuel Nwabuoku is set to be unleashed on UIL 6A as one of the best 2028s in the country, and there’s several dudes up and down this roster that will warrant some next level attention, including Justin Thomas, Kade Payton and Tucker Shannon.

Little Elm v. Cypress Ranch - 1:20 PM, DHS 2

Defending state champs against last year’s 6AD1 Region II finalists in an intriguing one where plenty of young guns will be looked at to step up for their programs. David Edokpolo and DJ Vasher will lead Little Elm, while KJ Goodwin should draw plenty of attention in his own right this weekend.

Arlington Martin v. Friendswood - 3:30 PM, DHS 1

If guards with elite quickness is your thing, I’d recommend the final game taking place in Sandra Meadows Arena this weekend. Levi Moore keeps commanding attention with loud lead guard performances both for Upside and with this Martin group, but he’ll have his hands full trying to outduel Texas A&M bound Chase Richardson. Coaches still hanging around DHS late Sunday should keep an eye on Keshav Vijaykumar’s shooting and see if they can gain an early impression on 2029 Cash Clark as well.

We’ve already sent out our official GASO “cheat sheet” to the college coaches, but we’ve got a few extra categories to get college coaches prepared for the weekend, including G1 Breakouts that need to be on radars, and small school prospects that deserve and evaluation this weekend.

Amare Johnson - ON1 Prep 6’2

Strong Bodied Guard Who’s Lethal In Transition. Loves to Find His Middy.

Logan Voisin - Deer Park 6’6

Long Wing, 6’6 with a lot of skill. I really like how active he is. Think he’ll turn heads when coaches see his size and length.

Zionne Alfred - Houston EOP 6’4

A BULL. One of the more physical players in our G1 Series. Productive and TOUGH!

Lucas Clark - Texas Lions 6’5

Great PG positional size. Love his pace and poise. Plays so under control in the scoring areas.

Kai Fino-Swift - Weslaco 6’6

KFS has a chance to blow up when more coaches see the unreal scoring off the dribble. 6’6 and the smoothest game you’ll see, he’ll add more offers to his multiple offers earned this spring.

Lead Guards To Check In On - These are some of my favorite lead guards on the G1. Pace, Creativity, Scoring, and Leadership Skills.

Luke Munden - Belton 6’2

Competitive and Creative. Love his approach to the game.

Marshaun Bard - East Central - 5’10

Jet Quick Guard That Will Aid a program who wants to play fast.

Cayden Burse - Lufkin 6’2

PACE, FEEL, and APPROACH. The intangibles and skill will be on disiplay.

Bryce Vann - Fort Bend Crawford - 6’1

One of the most dynamic guards in the G1 Series. Will be impossible to not catch a coach’s eye who sees his court.

Deion Keller - Fort Bend Bush - Fort Bend Bush

Heart over Height. He’s one of the best floor generals in Texas. He’s want you want in a leader and he does everything a small guard needs to do to be productive.

Winners + Production - These plays not only make winning plays, they produce game in and game out across the entire stat sheet.

Harrison Taylor - Alamo Heights 6’3

He can play so many positions. He’s so productive on the G1 Series, I can’t wait to see the production with Alamo Heights.

Natayvious Allen - Oak Cliff Faith Family 6’6

Has a real chance to blow up at TABC. He’s an athletic freak and insane measurables.

Gabriel Childress - Barbers Hill 6’6

Can play the 3 or 4. Shoots it at a high clip and is uber confident anywhere in the paint he gets the ball.

Karsen Ramsey - Brazos Christian School 6’2

He just wants to win and he’ll do whatever it takes. Built like a linebacker, plays like one in transition. He finishes through contact and plays FAST!

Mike Uwalaka - Good Vision 6’6

Positional Size On The Wing He’s Rebounding Nightmare and his motor is unmatched!

Maddox Ross - Pflugerville Weiss 6’1

Does the nasty work for RTX and will do that with Weiss this year. He makes the plays college coaches want to see in their program.

The depth of talent in Texas becomes even more apparent during TABC weekend, and even with much of the focus directed towards the traditional big school powerhouses - don’t sleep on these prospects that ply their trade in the smaller classifications.

Ben Bolton - Jacksonville

Shooter with great physicality. Improved playmaker with the ball in his hands.

Paxton Brake - Wall

Tough West TX forward that has some versatility to him.

Court Gaylor - Lipan

Quick, High IQ guard with excellent feel. Can score and distribute efficiently.

Richard Groff - Comal Davenport

Intriguing big that can stretch the floor and alter shots.

Gavin Green - Kingwood The Covenant

Floor general with playmaking instincts that can score it.

Cooper Jones - Paradise

Can operate on or off the ball & has a real clutch gene.

Brandon Mathis - La Grange

Tons of upside here for a 6’8 wing that can shoot and play above the rim.

Cordell Lowe - Hardin Jefferson

Two way impact slasher that can guard multiple spots.

Owen Jones - Bridgeport

6’6 wing that can shoot it. Good complementary piece.

Shawn Hall - Liberty Eylau

2028 that can put up points in bunches.

Josiah Cobb - Dallas Madison

3AD1 title game MVP, defends, scores in transition, underrated shotmaker.

Marneko Thomas - Chilton

Physical downhill guard with a college ready frame.
