The Active Investor Plus residency visa offers New Zealand residency to those who have invested a minimum of $5 million (US$2.94 million) into New Zealand; passed a good character test; and have acceptable health.

Previously those on the visa but not in New Zealand for six months of the year were banned from buying property.

Today Amazon announced that Amazon Web Services is opening its $7.5 billion storage and data centre, creating 1000 new jobs. The news follows the government's announcement yesterday that it would make an exemption to the foreign buyers ban for wealthy investors on the Active Investor Plus residency visa - also known as the "golden visa".
