The desert has many native flowers blooming and setting fruit during the summer rains. But if you have a vegetable garden - you might be interested in this:

Yes, it is hot. It is always hot in the summer. Why are people surprised?
Is it hotter than last year? If you manipulate the data just right you could say so. Is it hotter than it was 6000 years ago. Nope. (see below)
Why do humans seem to believe that whatever occurred in previous years is “normal” and the way it will always be. The universe is always changing.
Is the heat human caused? Well, if you take a desert valley, remove all vegetation, fill the valley full of houses, concrete buildings, asphalt roads and parking lots, and then don’t forget to add millions (millions!) of air conditioners pumping heat out of the buildings and into the air. You have to admit that there is a degree of human cause to the increased heat. And yes humans did add some vegetation back in, but not near enough to ameliorate the heat island.
