Autumn is approaching, and time to take a good hard look at the landscape around your home and consider where you might like to add something lush looking & low water use as well.
My spouse wants some flowers other than yellow - and I remind him that the Southwest is a land of primarily bee pollinated plants. Bees prefer yellow flowers. It is just how their eyes work. Hummingbirds love red and purple, and those plants will generally require irrigation. (He hates high water bills.)
There is always an exception to the rules, and the lovely hesperaloe shown above is one of those exceptions. Low water and hummingbirds love it.
