Hello, and welcome to Game Worlds Weekly issue … #2!
I’m very pleased to report that feedback on issue #1 was all round very positive. I mean, you never know with something new, right? It would have been a lot easier not to press send, so I’m glad I did. I really believe in the core idea - that of a focused place to follow the ongoing development of interesting indie projects
It goes without saying, every retweet, repost, etc., is valuable to this project. Please do it!
If you have a project in development, or know of one, then drop me a line and get it featured. And remember, a project can feature as often as you wish, so long as there is some progress to report. It’s all about the process!

Hi, Oliver, give us a one sentence project overview!
Ronny's Climb is a furry-themed retro platformer featuring colorful stages, quirky animal friends and a lot of collectables.
What have you done in the last week?
Worked on an internal demo! With Steam Next Fest in October approaching, I'm widening my circle of playtesters to get in more feedback. Also, I've finished up a lot of dialogs in the early game.
What’s the plan for the coming week?
Doing more polishing of the demo contents in preparation for Steam Next Fest. Also, brushing up the Steam store page, it needs an update.
Where are you and how’s the weather?
I'm located in Germany where as I'm writing this, it's currently the hottest day of the year so far. On the upside though, the sky is very clear today which means perfect conditions for watching shooting stars. And as it happens, tonight is the peak time of the Perseids, a yearly meteor shower. Expect up to 100 shooting stars per hour!

Hi Tony, give us a one sentence project overview!
A pair of modern day urban explorers spot a jungle archaeological site on google satellite, but once there they’re dragged deep into a hellhole that they must fight to escape from alive.
What have you done in the last week?
I decamped to darkest North Wales to get my head down and do a ton of work - and I more or less did. But not as much as I imagined. Mostly I worked on chests and doors. Silver chests require a key to unlock, whereas gold chests can be shot and hit until they break open. Once unlocked, I got the chest spews out a bunch of goodies in a nicely satisfying way. I prototyped in Lua then ported to Z80 which took longer than expected. I think the Zapp Live demo may not be happening - all the features work but they’re not laid out in a coherent gameplay level as yet.
What’s the plan for the coming week?
Firstly I need to port the new door unlocking stuff to Z80. It’s going to be a bit tricky as we’ve run out of sprite pattern space on the Spectrum, so I will have to software render these objects. Then I need to change the palette handling, which I kinda screwed up the first time.
Where are you and how’s the weather?
I’m back in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, and the weather is okay - not too hot. I like rain. Rain is coding weather.

Hi James, give us a one sentence project overview!
Sleepytime Village is the story of a neglectful, workaholic father who makes one wrong choice too many and becomes trapped in a children’s storybook reality, haunted by the residents of Sleepytime Village, its formless narrator and visions of his childhood. What is the Village, what does it want from him, and how can he escape?
What have you done in the last week?
In the last week I have been working on concluding the full walkthrough of the game, puzzles and scenes. With each re -ead I get more and more confident that this game is going to take the player on a very weird journey!
What’s the plan for the coming week?
Next week I will be lying on a beach sketching out scenes and writing down more puzzle development with a pina colada in hand whilst sending Steve (the writer and music man) a ton of messages encouraging him to speed up creating more music!
Where are you and how’s the weather?
I am currently sitting in St Margarets in West London, and we are having a heatwave!

Hi Dominic, give us a one sentence project overview!
Five Day Detective is a point and click adventure in which gnarled and occasionally competent Detective Inspector Dermot Dervish must solve a series of gruesome murders before the police station’s budget runs out.
What have you done in the last week?
Made a walkthrough video talking to camera for the first time, sent the final character sheets to Samantha, and put out a fire in the garden because the downstairs neighbours didn’t dispose of a bonfire properly.
What’s the plan for the coming week?
Now the publicity for the demo is mainly complete, I need to get back into the swing of writing and editing regularly, but also revamp the Steam page and do some video editing.
Where are you and how’s the weather?
I’m in Stockport, which is probably best known for its railway station architecture being used as a reference for the Spellbound Dizzy graphics. Perfect weather: sunny but mild this morning. No complaints.
