On April 21st, game makers gathered at Innovation House for a Game Makers Iceland Demo Night - and it was a great one! Professionals, students, and hobbyists came together to show off what they’re working on, at all stages of development.

Here’s a look at the games that were on show.

A genre-blending game combining musical theatre, interactive storytelling, and rhythm gameplay. Set in the seaside town of Seahaven, where powerful emotions cause your character to burst into song - play along in rhythm to earn Courage Points and win over the townspeople. Follow Deadgroove Games on instagram to keep up to date.

Replay! The Musical by Deadgroove Games

A browser-based space 4X game with auto-battling mechanics. Explore space, research cutting-edge technologies, defend your trade routes from pirates, and crush your enemies with superior fleet tactics. Currently in pre-alpha, with playtesting planned for late summer 2026. Follow Claim the Void on instagram and YouTube for more.

Claim the Void by Ólafur Karl Stefánsson

A top-down shooter made at Reykjavík University, available on itch.io. The team are planning continued development over the summer, with a multiplayer Steam version in the works - and it’ll be showcased at Gamescom this August. One to watch!

Clean It With Fire by Bernard, Friðrik F. Söebech, Gísli Jóhann Halldórsson and Þorvarður Helgi Bjarnason

A cozy, roguelike, strategic terraforming deck builder following a handful of bees as they embark on reclaiming the Earth for all bee-kind. Follow Bee Space on instagram for more info.

Bee Space by Polykite Games

A 2D pixel-art fighting game set in the fantasy world of Etera, where war, cursed magic, and celestial outsiders threaten the kingdom of Starkheim. Inspired by Soul Calibur and Super Smash Bros, it aims to capture the feeling of old-school fighting games while staying modern and accessible — and it’s already out in Early Access on Steam!

Starkheim Tournament by Project Mox

A wild west roguelike deck-builder where you claim bounties through western standoffs, order bullets and buffs into the cylinder to deal massive damage, and build up your arsenal to take down the final boss, Grimshot.

Luck of the Draw by Tryggvi Ólafsson, Kristján Orri Leifsson and Marteinn Logi Jóhannsson

A shop management game with card collecting and trading mechanics. Help your mom pay the rent by haggling with kids on the playground, solving city mysteries, and working your way up to becoming the best card trader in the city. Check it out on itch.io!

Card Shop Kid by Greg Gaede

A stealth game about running through a city where everyone is looking for you and hunters are on your tail. Still an early prototype, but a compelling one - the team are already looking forward to showing more at the next GMI Demo Night! Play the prototype (and other games by the team) at oddur.itch.io and hobbystoreronin.itch.io.

The Sprinting Man by Oddur Vilhjálmsson and Ágúst Þorvaldsson

A huge thanks to everyone who came out and showed their work - this is exactly what Demo Night is all about. Keep an eye on these projects, and we’ll see you at the next one! 🎮
