#34 - The Return of Vertigo!

Howdy, y’all!

Boy it’s been a doozy of a few weeks, hasn’t it? Snowstorm, drama at the curling1 competition at the Winter Olympics, second snowstorm. Lots of cool stuff coming out this week, and we’ve got a few events to talk about, so here’s an actual-length newsletter post for the first time in a while!

The game night we’ve been co-hosting off site is moving to a new location! In the meantime, for the next two weeks (so 2/12 and 2/26), we’ll actually be hosting this in the building! I’m gonna’ be off the clock though, so don’t come looking for comics.

Come with games, come with your Magic the Gathering decks, come with, uh, I don’t know, dice??? I’ve attended exactly .25 of these game nights since they started so I honestly have no idea what they play. But it’ll be fun! Come hang out.

Deniz Camp2 heads up the first Vertigo #1 of DC’s new (old/new) Vertigo line! For those of you who weren’t reading things in the 90s, Vertigo was DC’s cigarette-smoke laden, nudity having, un-grawlixed swearing swearing imprint for adults.

Hellblazer, aka John Constantine Does Drugs but Drugs is Magik, Saga of the Swamp Thing, etc.

So you can expect these books to be not-superhero related (I think that’s what DC Black Label is going to be now? Idk, man, comics are goofy), for mature readers, and generally the comic equivalent of prestige television shows like Mad Men, Breaking Bad, or Bluey.

Sometimes a man meets someone, someone specific, someone who wants, of all things, a comic book. Maybe that specific someone orders that book, maybe our eyes meet, maybe I tell them don’t worry, I’ll find that for you.

This doesn’t happen, often, but it does happen. So here are a few books from the 🌟Tab of Mysteries🌟 behind my box which contain the single issues I know are for someone, but I can’t for the life of me remember who. Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #3 - We got a single copy in a shipment the other day and I knooooowwww someone needs it but I can’t remember who and it did not get written down.

I have two copies of Absolute Batman #16 and I just know one of you forgot to get it. If you’re nice (and first), one of these two copies can be yours!

This is probably also Shahe, now that I think about it. We’ll see.
