on my desk tonight

In my previous post, I invited you to come along my creative journey through 2026 in totally your own way. And my invitation still stands and will do till the very end of 2026 itself.

Today, I wish to share more about why I need this and why I think more people would benefit from creatively spent times. It has everything to do with slowing down a bit, noticing what’s inside and what wants to come out and how.

I get sucked into digital spaces fast - hello shiny new things - and I can loose time in them very quickly. Which has its ups - getting to meet new like minded people, actually talking to them, finding out about new projects, learning new things, new techniques, oh my, the list is long - but also many downs are there too, mainly time vanishing, lots of unhealthy comparisonitises (new word yes :D ) and the toughest, disconnection from myself and my own creative thinking and doing not to mention, just being. There just seems to be no “being” allowed which saddens me.

So when I get disconnected, grumpy, sad, lost or a plethora of not-so-nice states, what works best for me is - going out in the nature! I bet you didn’t see this one coming :D Or you did if you have been around here for a while.

It’s being in the nature, observing it, noticing what changed from the last time I was there (I love my forest walks the best) and sometimes even catching glimpses of a different reality that uplift me SO much that I feel good for a few days in a row. If this is not a good nudge to spend more time outside then I don’t know what it.

Anyways. After an outside walk I come back with a clearer head and usually an idea or two brewing in there as well. And what I do want to do more of, is indulging in this state. And the best way to do so for me, is to get creative. In any way really because I am a rather multi-mediums-kind-of-person.

Sitting down to write what I witnessed - when I notice those glimpses - is definitely a great idea because it comes in handy for the times I should go out but I don’t do it.

And here’s where the Creative 2026 Prompts come in. I hope I’ll be able to take a prompt each week, each Monday, and sit with it for a while. See what it ignites in me, what it brings forward in connection to the glimpses I sometimes catch outside. This is what I wish to focus upon.

To see more of the world I KNOW is out there but is just beyond my ordinary reach. I want to CONNECT to it MORE. And I want to bring it HERE, by drawing or painting or writing or needle felting or sculpting… as these are my favourite things to do. But anything would work as long as I would actually be mindful about it and stay with it longer.

And I KNOW, you can connect to it too. To your very own world that is out there, just beyond the veil of ordinary and is waiting patiently for you to notice it and make it more solid in any way, shape or form.

So, here are three ways I can go about the 52 prompts in the upcoming 2026:

  1. take a sketchbook and fill it with my drawings or paintings or collages prompted by the words I’ll have in front of me,

  2. take a simple notebook and use it for reflections on the prompts OR write 52 stories sparked by the prompts in it OR draw/paint/collage in this simple notebook because simple notebooks are not precious,

  3. take a box and put 52 papers in it and use those to draw/paint/collage/write on after spending some time with the prompts.

And there are still many more ways to do this and if you feel just slightly inspired right now, please take it as a warm nudge from your creative self and join in on the fun, it’s always nice to share good vibes and to be witnessed. I opened up a brand new group on FB where I’ll share what I create - or not create, it’s all good - and where I’ll happily chat with you and discuss whatever comes up in the weeks to come. Consider yourself more than kindly invited.

As I said in my previous post, this time I am not taking this as a challenge. I am taking it as a nudge to connect more, to spend more time with myself, noticing and reflecting and then bringing something new into the now where everything actually really is.

I hope to see you in the group or if not, I’ll still keep posting right here too.

With much love,

Nina
