Darwin rules the world

These days, I find myself thinking more and more often of Charles Darwin. It is time to dust off our thinking of survival of the fittest, or maybe rather the accompanying thought of the withering away of the weakest.

Looking at the Trump administration, or broader, what Americans do to themselves, Darwin keeps popping up. Last week we saw Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert Kennedy Jr., scale new heights in this respect, as he was questioned about his wholesale destruction of American healthcare. He has fired all members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, replacing them with anti-vaccination activists. The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was fired, a month after being confirmed by Congress, for her refusal to follow unscientific orders of her boss. Many specialists in the Centers resigned. Priceless knowledge is gone. Kennedy thinks vitamins and cod oil are more effective and less dangerous than vaccins. He still contains they cause autism, never mind lack of evidence.

Even better in the collection of Darwin moments was the announcement in Florida that children don’t need to be vaccinated anymore to be admitted to public schools. God will protect us, proclaimed the quack that runs healthcare in this state of retirees. He called mandatory vaccination ‘slavery’, certainly a thing only a black person is allowed to say – well, admittedly, Trump might say it too. Governor DeSantis, always ready for some populist nonsense when he is not cleaning out public libraries or destroying universities, stood by, nodding approval.

Darwin!, I kept thinking. Do you really want to make vaccinations suspect and put successful campaigns to eradicate diseases like measles, rubella and whooping cough in reverse? Do you really want to dismantle preparations for the next epidemic and downplay the success of corona vaccines? I say: fine. Go ahead. You will die, you children will die, like those poor kids who contracted measles in Texas. The weak will not survive. Fine. You asked for it. Red states will find out.

Speaking of Texas, you will recall that just under a hundred teenagers drowned there last month, washed away in an area known for its rapid flooding. Christian kids, no less. The Lord disposes. Thoughts and prayers. It soon became apparent that an adequate alarm system, loud and shrill to warn for a flash flood, had been argued over for years. Nothing came of it, because, you guessed it, the community around the river did not want to spend the required money. Taxes! You know, we're against taxes. Darwin at work. Poor teenagers drowned because the American dumbasses refused to take proper precautions, penny foolish. The weak don't survive. Texan schoolkids are weak. Tough shit.

America is a country where the conditions for survival are systematically undermined. In Trump's big ugly law, health insurance for eight million people was eradicated. There is a good reason that life expectancy is rising all over the world, but has been falling in the United States for years. No wonder. So many weak, so many dumbasses. Darwins rule of the weakest in full force.

Also last week, we saw a love fest of Xi, Putin and Modi, and their court jester Kim, all embracing, celebrating a new world order in which pathetic America comes in second place. The pathetic leader of America - now that I think about it, the electoral system in America is also an example of Darwin: you elect weaklings and, presto, the country falls apart -, that pathetic leader used his diplomatic tool kit, his message board, to wish the gentlemen good luck.

He probably felt strong, ready to conquer the world, after his brave display of strength. Donald Trump, that macho who dined last week with his tech bosses, the penopause boys, and who is supported by young male voters, pathetic men who are struggling in this world, renamed the Department of Defense the Department of War. There you are! Strong. Warrior. Indeed, we were left speechless. Suddenly America is impressive again. We now understand why, under this regime, capable military personnel are fired for being women, black or appointed by Biden. No war radiates from them. Nor martial enough. Pete Hegseth, nobody’s idea of a warrior, wants to see a fighting force. No weaklings.

Darwin, I shout. Weaken your whole system of defense, your military strength, and soon you will be whipped by the strong, who are better prepared to survive. They know which game they are playing. They know their Darwin. In the brave new world of America First and Great Again, fundamental weakness hides behind a new name. Guess who will win this survival of the fittest? Don’ like the job numbers? Fire the messenger. Don’t like that analyst who declares, no, the entire Iranian nuclear machinery has not been destroyed? Fire him. Don’t like independent bank authorities? Bully them, smear them, prosecute them. Don’t like big cities? Send in the soldiers. Instead, follow a looney influencer in telling you who you need to get rid of. Next time the country needs intelligence, you’ll be caught with your pants down. 9/11 all over again. Slam dunk!

A Congress that allows itself to be cowed by a single man who blackmails, threatens and intimidates? The weak, in this case politicians, will not survive. They will have lost their constitutional power for ever. The bully dominates and undermines everything that once made America great. It will all sink in a quicksand of corruption, ass-kissing and lies, ultimately producing a lame and weak America. If it was lead in their water pipes that did in Rome, it is sheer stupidity that will be the end of the United States. The list of examples is endless.

Darwin links these developments. You don’t have to read the whole Origin of Species to grasp his big idea. Yes, if you systematically weaken yourself and your environment you go down in the survival of the fittest competition. Evil actors like Robert Kennedy Jr., Tulsi Gabbard and Pete Hegseth, like their patron Donald Trump, are the heralds of America's destiny. Republican politicians are hapless acolytes at the funeral service.

Yes, the weak will fall. Make America Great Again is the last, final contribution to the demise of the United States as we knew it. Weak countries are losing out. No wonder Xi, Putin, Modri and little Kim looked so happy. They don’t even have to act. In a Hobbesian world of dog eat dog they intuitively know that they are the stronger ones. They see what’s coming, they see the weak go under. Darwin rules the world.
