Things have happened, we have news.
First up, if you thought Sydney got gay during Mardi Gras, my dear reader, you have seen nothing yet. Sydney is hosting WorldPride next year and every organisation and venue collecting its f*ggiest stuff and puking glitter onto their branding. Queer Man Peering will be showing as part of Powerhouse Museum’s Absolutely Queer exhibit! We’re chuffed.
Secondly, we announced our next game! Janet DeMornay Is A Slumlord (and a witch).
It’s about queer share housing, it’s about landlord overreach, it’s about… you know what? We’ve made a video series about this.
As we were starting work on this, Powerhouse were putting together all the pieces for WorldPride exhibition. They’re a museum that is as interested in the process as they are the finished work, and as such they were asking for as much preproduction materials and inspirations as we could find. Realising we could only vaguely answer many of their questions, we thought we should start a diary. And who doesn’t love a public diary?!
Six episodes are up, we’ve recorded another three or so, and we plan on recording and releasing during the whole development. Even though we’re calling it a “dev diary” it’s more “the journey of the couple-as-artist” than “this is how you make a game”, because frankly YouTube is filled with devs working much smarter than we are. Don’t take tech advice from these babies. Also, we love a good story, and even after only six eps there’s highs and lows and tension and drama and… this is a relationship in near real time, dear reader.
We hope you enjoy, there’s a heap of flapping hands and exasperated sighs. I think it mostly keeps the energy up, but there’s some real deflated moments in there too (game development can suuuuuck).
I hope you’re well, I hope you have a great festive season. Tell your favourite family member you love them.
xPete.
