First, I scribbled. Scribbled while listening to a call that could’ve been an email, then the new Lykke Li album, then crickets. I filled up entire pages and let the ink run out. These markers were cheap and we’re adults with real money now.
The next day I returned to the scribbles, but this time with a scissor and hole puncher. I cut and punched. Shapes I’ve always loved - circles, squares, little wavy things.
I got up and moved, myself and the shapes.
I trusted my gut, swiped left, swiped right.
I liked what I saw and kept going.
The desk became a mess. As I was sweeping scraps from table to trash, I spotted more shapes I liked. They had to be rescued!
One thing led to another, and I found myself with a little collection.
