—”Hair” apparent: Nothing Without a Company (NWaC) announced five performances of The Trouble With My Hair: Coloring, Cutting, and Coming Into Who I Am. They will take place Aug. 21-30 in various Chicago venues, including REM Salon and Center on Halsted.
This is a solo performance—written and performed by award-winning storyteller Ada Cheng—that intimately explores gender, sexual identity and boundary-making through her evolving relationship with her hairstylist and her hair. Tickets are $15-$50 each and are available at NothingWithoutACompany.org.
—Dance the night away: Chicago Dance Health Fund announced Dance for Life’s 35th anniversary.
The nonprofit organization’s annual fundraiser takes place Saturday, Aug. 22, at 7:30 p.m. at The Auditorium, 50 E. Ida B. Wells Dr. A gala dinner will take place at 5 p.m. at Venue SIX10, 610 S. Michigan Ave; and the post-performance after-party will happen at the same venue. Tickets ($65-$750 each) are available at auditoriumtheatre.org and the Auditorium Theatre’s box office.
—Let’s get physical: Supertri Chicago—formerly known as the Chicago Triathlon—returns to downtown Chicago on Aug. 22-23 and is on track to sell out with a record 9,500 athletes.
The event has grown to become North America’s largest triathlon and continues its momentum toward Supertri’s long-term ambition of becoming the biggest triathlon in the world. —Recall of the wild: Whole Foods is recalling dozens of products due to potential salmonella contamination, KCRA noted.
The products (such as jalapenos, salsas and dips) were sold online as well as at stores in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas and Wisconsin. All of the recalled products have best before/best by dates between Aug. 7-16, company officials said.

—✨✨RESTAURANT PICK: New Chicago History Museum President Michael Anderson took time from his expansive duties to tell me what one of his favorite local restaurants is.
HIs pick is the Edgewater Italian restaurant Regalia. “The chef used to be at Rosebud for many years, and Regalia is really close to one of my other favorite restaurants, which is [the Thai/Japanese spot] Indie Cafe,” Anderson said. “My husband and I love Italian food, and Regalia is really great.”

—✨✨REVIEW: First, let me say (or write) this: Flight Club Chicago is a good time.
Located along the Chicago River on Wacker Drive (in the Loop), the spot is an entertainment concept that includes elevated food and beverage menus along with tech-enabled Social Darts, which features multiplayer games and tracking technology. Going to Flight Club Chicago right after standard work hours, I saw just how popular this place is, as both floors featured many groups of people being, well, social.
And it’s pretty reasonable, economically speaking, to play: Typically, people pay $15 each to throw darts for up to 90 minutes. (Of course, this means that you have to leave the area to make room for the next group, sort of like what restaurants do with drag brunches.)
But Flight Club Chicago wouldn’t be complete without eats, and it has plenty—at least during the week. (I’ll explain later.)
