For hilarious Halloween jokes check out “Bunnies Telling Halloween Jokes” from tombo_the_giant_rabbit on Instagram.

Sample: Why did Dracula take cough medicine? He was coffin too much.

Bird nerd comic “Spooky Bird Stories” by rosemarymosco on Instagram.

Sample: Zombies had smashed through the door in the night. The homeowner was dead. But worst of all…He hadn’t refilled the feeders.

Spooky cat photos including zombie/vampire hands and channeling weaves (aka magic) by furryfritz on Instagram.

For any Wheel of Time show lovers out there this is what cats would look like if they were Aes Sedai. Which is of course the best thing ever and they are obviously strong in Fire. Channeling cats #savewot #primevideosucksandyoushouldboycottitforJenniferthankyou

Pallas’s cat

Have you ever wanted to hear what a Pallas’s cat sounds like? Well, I didn’t until I saw this and now regret not thinking of it sooner. They honk. Yes, honk. It is weird and wonderful. Check it out here.

And, in case you are not as much of an animal nerd as I am and have never heard of the Pallas’s cat they are an odd looking wild cat found in central Asia. Just the Zoo of Us has an episode about them which you can listen to online here.

Pet chefs

My latest social media obsession, according to the algorithm, is Hazel the chef, or perhaps more accurately the food critic. Follow hazel_theminiwiener on Instagram for videos of hazel making and tasting pumpkin pie, pumpkin chai latte, butternut squash soup, and more.

Spooky Pet Sitting Stories

And, if you want to hear some very scary and spooky pet sitting stories please follow the series on our Instagram feed. So far we have shared tails about an insane cyclist, a pocket full of horror, getting locked in a basement, and more to come.

Spooky group names

This is courtesy of Calgary Parks on Facebook. My favourites are:

  • A rhumba of rattlesnakes

  • A siege of herons

  • A cauldron of bats

  • A boogle of weasels

  • A hover of trout

Do trout hover? I suppose they can hover underwater…

Different types of spiderwebs

This is courtesy of Encyclopaedia Britannica on Facebook. Did you know I walk into at least 5 million spiderwebs each year. I may be exaggerating slightly, I lost track after 100, but it sure is A LOT.

Critter Care Wildlife Society, Langley - Bearology page

Did you know that bears do not stay fast asleep all winter? They do move around and sometimes even check outside their den. Some bears may stay active all winter, particularly if they have a regular food source like garbage.

Which reminds me that we have had a number of bear sightings right in the middle of Abbotsford this year. Please help keep bears, and your pets, safe by keeping your compost and garbage bins secured until it is time for pick up. That will help prevent conflicts and the bears will just move on to other parts of their territory with hopefully safer and healthier food sources.

And, if you made it all the way here to the end thank you for reading!

The first reader to reply to this email with a photo of you or your pets in costume will receive a special Halloween treat for their pets. For Abbotsford and Mission residents only.

Bonus for you:

I always wanted to be a Ninja…

Just a Public Service Announcement that a paper throwing star is actually dangerous and I almost took out my supervisor’s eye! True story. If you make one maybe round the tips just to be safe.

2 photos of me in a costume - all black with a black face covering and red bed throwing a paper star. 2 photos of me in a costume - all black with a black face covering and red bed throwing a paper star.
My favourite past Halloween costume. My Ninja costume is my absolute favourite, if I had not chosen to be a Professional Pet Sitter I would have pursued being a Ninja.
