Ready for something that’s pretty wacky but actually super great for drawing practice?

We are drawing with both hands at the same time.

This prompt is guaranteed to drive away your inner perfectionist. You simply cannot achieve a “perfect” drawing with this one. If you do, we’ll all know that you cheated! So dive in and have fun throwing your brain a curveball (while sneakily training your eyes to look carefully at what you’re drawing)!

  • Step 1: Find some scissors. Scissors are perfect for this because their shape is fun to draw, but they don’t have too many details to get lost in.

  • Step 2: Grab two writing tools in two different colors.

  • Step 3: Let the chaos ensue! Put one tool in each hand, lock your eyes on the scissors, and start drawing. Trace the contours with your eyes, and let both hands mimic that same movement at the same time. Don’t worry about them coordinating, just let your hands move!

Take a wild guess if I’m right or left-handed! Ha.

It’s silly, but it demonstartes the real secret to getting better at drawing: the power of using our eyes to really look. That’s it. It’s not magic. It’s just training ourselves to deeply observe what’s in front of us.

Hop over to our free Skool community and share your crazy drawing with us!

There’s a dedicated thread for this week’s prompt in the Prompts & Shares tab. Because drawing together is a whole lot more fun than drawing alone!

Share that wild sketch!

Have fun with it,

Beth
